5-star Ian Jackson; "We hear the most from Oregon and Kentucky"
Ian Jackson is On3’s No. 2 player in the 2024 class. The 6-foot-5 guard has been a standout all spring, playing up on 17u for the Wiz Kids program.
“I get after it on both ends of the floor,” Jackson tells On3. “I take pride in defense, and the jump shot is there consistently now. Right now, I am watching a lot of Shai Gilgeous Alexander. Our body frame is similar; the way he plays is the same way I play.”
College programs have quickly noticed the New York based guard and started prioritizing them in his recruitment. On3 caught up with Ian Jackson tonight to talk about his recruitment.
“I would say we hear the most from Oregon and Kentucky right now,” Jackson said. “When 3SSB goes out to Los Angeles, I will visit UCLA this summer. I want to get up to Oregon later this Summer and Kentucky too.”
Jackson talks recruitment
Oregon: “Coach Chuck (Martin) is from the Bronx, and he knows what New York guards bring. He wants me to come out there and get the championship with his program.”

Kentucky: “They think I am a player who can come in and win a championship with their program. We talk with their coaches often, and they keep in consistent contact. Shai Gilgeous went there too.”
UCLA: “The history behind the program. All the great players who came through there, the coaches and how they are talking to us, a family out there that really came across.”
“G-League and OTE have contacted me”
“They both contacted me,” Jackson said. “Conversations went well; it is definitely something different, but something I want to hear more about. It’s not something I will shut down now; I’m open to it.”
Jackson’s take
“I want to go to a place that feels like home,” Jackson said. “A place that treats me like family, and I’m comfortable being there. I want to get to the NBA, so whatever I feel comfortable will help me get to the NBA.”.
