Five-star interior offensive lineman Devon Campbell is going to wait things out.

The 6-foot-3, 325-pound five-star interior offensive lineman from Arlington (Texas) Bowie confirmed he will not be signing on Wednesday, which is the start of the early signing period.

“I will be signing and announcing my decision Feb. 3,” Campbell said in the tweet.

With so many coaching moves this offseason, more and more top recruits are deciding to wait things out. Since the inception of the early signing period, around 90% of recruits have opted to use Wednesday as Signing Day. But with all the moves at major programs all over the country, that number could drop to 80% or even 70%.

Campbell’s decision to wait, mirrors an announcement made on Tuesday by Ponchatoula, La., five-star safety Jacoby Mathews. And there are more and more reports of other highly regarded prospects thinking about waiting things out.

Before delay, Devon Campbell projected to Texas

Devon Campbell ranks as the No. 10 player overall in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The On3 Consensus also ranks Campbell as the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the country and the No. 3 player in the Lone Star State. On3 ranks Campbell slightly lower at No. 23 in the countryNo. 1 at his position and No. 6 in Texas.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Texas with a 92% chance to land Devon Campbell. But with his decision to push things back, that could force the RPM to recalculate, especially if recruiting insiders start to review their original predictions for the Longhorns.

Now that he’s backed off a Wednesday decision, other schools like USC, Georgia and Oklahoma could get back into the race to land Devon Campbell. Even though he’s already taken official visits to both schools, Campbell could use return official visits to Oklahoma and USC because of coaching changes there. Texas A&M could also turn into a team to contend with.
