The nation’s No. 2 safety will come off the board in nine days.

Shaker Heights (Ohio) five-star safety Trey McNutt will announce his commitment on July 19, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. McNutt will choose between Florida, Ohio State, Oregon, USC and Texas A&M.

Oregon currently leads for McNutt in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) with a 78.1% chance of receiving his commitment. Oregon insiders Justin Hopkins and Max Torres — in addition to On3’s Steve Wiltfong — have logged expert predictions favoring the Ducks.

Breaking down the finalists

McNutt broke down each of those schools at the On3 Elite Series even in Nashville at the end of May.

Oregon: “Coach Dan (Lanning), his passion and how he is as a coach, he’s just different. I can see that they’re building the program up and they’re trying to get a national championship. They want it over there.”

USC: “Their new coaching staff is exciting to be around, got to meet them the last time I was there and the time before that. We’ve just been building a connection ever since, it’s just been growing and growing. I like it out there, I like that coaching staff, I like to be around them. Coach (Lincoln) Riley, he’s always been on my head, texting me all the time, he’s always been building a connection with me.”

Ohio State: “Obviously they’re the Buckeyes, man. They’re a great football team, great program, know that they’re going to have chances to win the national championship. They all work over there, the coaching staff, Coach (Tim Walton), Coach (Matt) Guerrieri, they’ve got an elite coaching staff over there. Really it’s just a matter of where’s home for me.”

Texas A&M: “Mike Elko, it’s cool having a defensive head coach. Having him as also a safeties coach because he has a great mind as a defensive coach. Also with Coach (Ishmael Aristide)…growing as a coach, all of them have been recruiting me hard.”

Florida: “They set a good impression on me my first visit so I definitely want to get back out. Coach (Billy) Napier, he had a great conversation with me in his office. Talking football, talking with him, they just seem like someone I want to give a chance, so definitely trying to look into Florida a little more.”
