2024 ACC Baseball Tournament Day 4: Results, schedule, updated bracket

Pool play at the 2024 ACC Baseball Tournament is winding down. No. 6 seed Duke and No. 11 seed Miami had already clinched their spots in the ACC Tournament semifinals heading into Friday’s action after winning Pool C and Pool B, respectively.

In Pool D, No. 5 seed Florida State and No. 4 seed Virginia got action started on Friday with a spot in the semifinals on the line. FSU ultimately pulled away for a 12-7 win over the Cavaliers.

Wake Forest captured Pool A late on Friday night, after Nick Kurtz pulled off some late game heroics against top-seeded North Carolina. He lifted the Demon Deacons to a 9-5 victory in 12 innings. Kurtz not only drilled a game-tying double in the ninth inning but saved a special one for the top of the 12th inning. He launched a tie-breaking two-run blast off the scoreboard to give the Demon Deacons a 7-5 advantage. They would go on to tack on two more runs in the 12th to come away with a 9-5 win.

Wake now advances to face Florida State on Saturday, May 25th. That one will be played at 1:00 PM EST on the ACC Network. The winner of that one will punch their tickets to the 2024 ACC Baseball Tournament Championship Game.

Louisville and Clemson are also playing on Friday. However, that game doesn’t have any ACC Tournament implications. Both the Cardinals and Tigers started 0-1 in the ACC Tournament, allowing Miami to advance to the semifinals.

Pool A for the ACC Baseball Tournament features No. 1 seed North Carolina, No. 8 Wake Forest and No. 12 Pitt. Pool B has No. 2 Clemson, No. 7 Louisville and No. 11 Miami. Pool C includes No. 3 NC State, No. 6 Duke and No. 10 Virginia Tech, and Pool D is made up of No. 4 Virginia, No. 5 Florida State and No. 9 Georgia Tech.

In Pool A Wake Forest is 2-0 and North Carolina is 1-1. Pitt is 0-2. In Pool B, Miami is 2-0, while Clemson and Louisville are 0-1. In Pool C, Duke is 2-0, NC State is 1-1 and Virginia Tech is 0-2. In Pool D, Virginia is 1-1, Florida State is 2-0 and Virginia Tech is 0-2.

Wake Forest will face Florida State in the semifinals on Saturday, while Miami and Duke will also face off Saturday. The ACC Baseball Tournament championship game will be held Sunday at Noon on ESPN2.
