ACC Power Rankings updated after Week 10 of college football
The latest ACC Power Rankings are here following Week 10 of college football and a full slate of action, courtesy of the On3 Massey Ratings.
The On3 Massey Ratings – which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated high school sports team rankings since 1995 – rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
Let’s dive into the ACC Power Rankings following Week 10 of the college football season.
1. Miami
The Hurricanes remained at the top of the ACC rankings while staying undefeated. They ran past Duke 53-31, including putting up 21 points in the fourth quarter.
This game was close at one point, but Cam Ward was the closer. He had five touchdowns and 400 yards through the air.
2. SMU (+2)
SMU improved to 8-1 on the season and are now No. 13 in the country. The new ACC members are in the driver’s seat to make the ACC Championship Game and are undefeated in conference play.
In the 48-25 win over Pitt, Kevin Jennings threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns. Brashard Smith ran for 161 yards and two touchdowns.
3. Clemson (-1)
Clemson only fell one spot in the ACC rankings despite losing at home to Louisville. The winning streak was nice, but it came to a screeching halt.
This was despite Phil Mafah running for 171 yards and two touchdowns. But in the 33-21 loss, Clemson was behind 17-7 at halftime and the 14 points in the fourth quarter were much ado about nothing.
4. Louisville (+1)
Speaking of Louisville, the Cardinals moved up one spot in the ACC rankings. However, the Massey Ratings have them behind Clemson despite the head to head win.
Louisville is 6-3 and now bowl eligible with the win over the Tigers. Jeff Brohm’s team is now ranked No. 25 in the latest AP Poll.
5. Pittsburgh (-2)
The Panthers were boatraced in the first half of their loss to SMU. In the 48-25 loss, Pitt fell behind 31-3 at halftime and could never recover.
They fell two spots in the ACC rankings after a subpar performance. It was the first loss for Pat Narduzzi’s crew this season.
6. Georgia Tech (+2)
Georgia Tech went into the bye week this weekend after a 21-6 loss to Virginia Tech. However, the Yellow Jackets moved up two spots due to other movement around the ACC.
Georgia Tech will finish up the season at home against Miami and NC State before playing in-state rival Georgia in Athens. This will be a tough end to the year.

7. Duke (-1)
Duke fell down a spot and are now 6-3 on the season. Maalik Murphy threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns, but also threw three interceptions.
This was an upset in the making, but Manny Diaz’s crew just fell short. Still, Duke could very well be favored in their three remaining games, all against ACC opponents.
8. North Carolina (+4)
North Carolina jumped up four spots according to Massey Ratings. This is certianly one of the more random ACC teams this year though.
The Tar Heels dominated Florida State 35-11 and Jacolby Criswell threw for 211 yards and a touchdown. Omarion Hampton had 172 yards on the ground and four touchdowns. He also had three catches for 93 yards and a score.
9. Syracuse (+1)
Syracuse became bowl eligible with a win over Virginia Tech and moved up a spot in the ACC rankings. Kyle McCord threw for 280 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
But how about LeQuint Allen? He ran 21 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns in the win over the Hokies.
10. Virginia Tech (-3)
Virginia Tech was back on the positive side of things, but the Hokies lost to Syracuse in overtime on Saturday. With that, they dropped three spots in the ACC rankings.
Collin Schlee was at QB and threw for 206 yards and a touchdown while VT had three different players score on the ground, including Schlee. But, it was a disappointing end on the road.
