Adam Miller is one step closer to a transfer portal decision. He’s down to two options.

Miller is deciding between a transfer to TCU and a return to LSU, he told On3’s Joe Tipton. The former Illinois guard entered the portal March 29, one of the many LSU players to test the portal waters.

Miller tore his ACL prior to the 2021-22 season and missed the year, but put together a solid freshman season with Illinois in 2021-22. He averaged 8.3 points and 2.l8 rebounds per game in 25.5 minutes per contest to help the Fighting Illini to a Big Ten Tournament championship and a No. 1 seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

He entered the portal after the season and ended up at LSU. Technically, he didn’t burn a year of eligibility because of the blanked COVID-19 waiver for the 2020-21 season, meaning he could still have four years remaining after missing this past season.

Out of high school, Miller was a highly touted recruit out of Chicago. A four-star recruit, he was the No. 2 player in the state of Illinois and the No. 29 recruit in the nation from the Class of 2020, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

LSU roster situation is coming into focus

Matt McMahon took over for Will Wade this offseason after spending the last seven years at Murray State. After he took over, all 13 scholarship players from the 2021-22 season either entered the transfer portal or declared for the 2022 NBA Draft. So far, Justice Williams and Mwani Wilkinson opted to come back, and the Tigers also landed some big-time transfers. NC State transfer Cam Hayes is in the fold, as are former Murray State guards Trae Hannibal and Justice Hill.

LSU is coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance under Wade, who was fired after LSU received a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA. The Tigers went 22-12 overall and 9-9 in SEC action before falling to Iowa State in March Madness.
