AFCA head coaches are proposing to move the transfer portal window to January and make it 10 days, according to Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger.

“AFCA head coaches are proposing to move the transfer portal to a 10-day window in early January after bowl games with spring window eliminated (except for graduate transfers),” Dellenger wrote on Twitter.

To keep up with the latest players on the move, check out On3’s Transfer Portal wire.

The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram account and Twitter account are excellent resources to stay up to date with the latest moves.

Ideally, this will allow teams to evaluate the rosters in full before having to deal with exits and entries to their rosters via the portal. Right now, coaching changes are a big deal when it comes to the windows opening.

Not to mention the fact there’s no set window and we’ve seen players leave their respective teams, or at least enter the transfer portal, in the middle of the College Football Playoff.

A prime example was Penn State QB Beau Pribula, who entered the portal and left the team prior to its first round game against SMU.

Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt was one critic of the current college football calendar in regards to the transfer portal. It was right on the heels of Pribula’s decision.

“I hate it for Beau Pribula, and in his tweet, he mentions the fact that he hates that he’s in this situation,” Klatt said on his podcast. “And why is he in this situation? Because the transfer portal is open during the season, and it’s going to close December 28 … The NCAA has built an incredibly flawed system that is impossible to navigate for these young men. The fact that we have an open transfer portal while the season is still happening is crazy. We have to fix this. We absolutely have to fix this.”
