Ahmari Huggins-Bruce no longer at South Carolina, will re-enroll at Louisville
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, South Carolina wide receiver Ahmari Huggins-Bruce is no longer with the Gamecocks. Instead, he is re-enrolling at Louisville and weighing his options moving forward.
Huggins-Bruce left the Cardinals at the end of the 2023 season and decided to play for the SEC program. But just before the season opener vs. Austin Peay on Aug. 31, he is back with Louisville.
“Just spoke with South Carolina WR Ahmari Huggins-Bruce on the phone,” Nakos said via X. “He has re-enrolled at Louisville and is weighing his options. He’s yet to join the Louisville football program again. Would have to walk-on. UL’s Caullin Lacy is out for 6 weeks.”
On3 has confirmed that Huggins-Bruce has informed the South Carolina staff of his departure.
During a radio show on Thursday, South Carolina’s Shane Beamer confirmed Huggins-Bruce was no longer in the program. Beamer did not have any information on what the wide receiver’s future plans were. However, he will not be with the Gamecocks moving forward per the head coach.
“He is no longer a member of the team,” Beamer said. “I will have more to say about that. I just have to talk to our own team first. I talked to him literally as I was walking into the radio show tonight.”
Huggins-Bruce had his best season of college football in 2023, having 20 receptions for 312 yards and four touchdowns. There was some impact made on the ground game too with 48 rushing yards and a touchdown.
South Carolina was hoping to get an in-state product back in the Palmetto State but unfortunately, he never played a snap for them.
