Louisville has signed former Akron wide receiver Bobby Golden out of the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. Golden is headed to Louisville after catching 31 passes for 446 yards and a touchdown in 2024.

Bobby Golden was the second-leading receiver for the Zips this past season. The Miami native spent three seasons at Akron prior to entering the transfer portal.

As a freshman in 2022, Golden appeared in nine games and caught one pass for 5 yards. During the 2023 season he saw his role increase, playing in 12 games and catching 18 passes for 143 yards. He had his most productive year yet in 2024 and is now transferring to Louisville.

He will play for Cardinals head coach Jeff Brohm at Louisville. The former quarterback is known for his creativity on the offensive side of the ball.

Brohm just wrapped up his second season at Louisville, and he helped the Cardinals reach the nine-win mark in 2024.

Brohm has gone 19-8 across two seasons at Louisville after previously working as the head coach at Purdue. He did a solid job with the Boilermakers, before being hired to take over his alma mater.

Former Louisville DL Jared Dawson commits to Notre Dame

While Louisville is adding Bobby Golden from the transfer portal, the Cardinals recently lost former defensive lineman Jared Dawson to Notre Dame.

This past season, Dawson finished with 19 total tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble. Over the course of his career with the Cardinals, Dawson has 51 tackles, one pass deflection, nine sacks and two forced fumbles.

As a member of the Class of 2020, Dawson was a three-star recruit out of Collierville (Tenn) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 26 overall prospect in the state, the No. 90 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 870 overall prospect in the class.

Dawson is joining Notre Dame at the right time, considering the team’s run to the national championship this season. As far as Louisville is concerned, the Cardinals landed former Baylor safety Corey Gordon recently.

Over the last two seasons, he has seven starts. Over his career, he has 64 tackles and grabbed three interceptions this past season. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
