Gadsden (Ala.) Gadsden City cornerback Rodney Johnson will announce his commitment on Oct. 16.
Johnson is a consensus three-star recruit in the 2022 cycle. He is choosing between Auburn, Illinois, Kentucky, Liberty, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
After leading his team to a victory two weeks ago, Rodney Johnson told The Gadsden Times he has received interest from Alabama but not an offer.
Dre Kirkpatrick, who played for Alabama from 2009-2011, is a Gadsden (Ala.) Gadsden City alumnus.
“I’m looking to stay around my home state, if not in the my home state,” Johnson said. “Alabama is my dream school. We have a lot of alumni who went to Alabama. To follow in their footsteps would be a great thing.”

Rodney Johnson is going on visits across the South
Rodney Johnson was in Lexington, Ky., for the Wildcats upset victory over Florida. The game was defensive slugfest and a great showcase for the Kentucky defense.
It was a great game for Johnson to attend. He even got to meet rapper Waka Flocka Flame, who’s banger “Grove Street Party” was the unofficial anthem of the 2014 Wildcats football team.
He is visiting Auburn this weekend to watch the Tigers face Georgia.
Rodney Johnson also has trips scheduled to Mississippi State and Tennessee.
