Four-star safety Ivan Taylor flips commitment from Michigan to Alabama
Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange On300 safety Ivan Taylor has flipped his commitment from Michigan to Alabama.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Taylor becomes commit No. 21 for head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide. He adds to a class the On3 Industry now ranks No. 2.
The four-star Taylor is excited about his future in Tuscaloosa.
“Just the fit,” Taylor said. “I think I’ll be a better fit there. There’s really nothing else to it. The coaches, the environment.”
Taylor had been a verbal to Michigan since July. He was also a one-time Notre Dame pledge but Alabama never stopped pushing. General Manager Courtney Morgan led the charge and future position coach Colin Hitschler is someone Taylor can see himself thriving under. DeBoer’s track record and presence was another element.
“Coach Hitschler, Coach DeBoer, the whole coaching staff,” Taylor said. “They just treat me like family. I’m comfortable there. I’m going to be away from my family. It’s good to be treated like family by all the people.”

Taylor is tabbed by the On3 Industry as the nation’s No. 7 safety and No. 63 prospect overall. He is the son of Pittsburgh Steelers great and two-time Super Bowl champion Ike Taylor. He’s excited to about his own next chapter at Alabama.
Taylor was last at Alabama for the win over Georgia.
“It’s a great feeling,” Taylor said. “It’s an electric feeling. Especially being there during the Georgia game. The ground was shaking. That was crazy to me. The whole stadium was into it. You can tell everyone loves that program.”
Taylor is excited to play for DeBoer.
“Just the way he goes about things,” Taylor said. “He’s very mellow about things. He lets everyone have their own style and play how they want to play.
“I think he was a good change.”
Alabama nation believes Taylor made a good change from the Wolverines to the Crimson Tide.
