If you can’t beat them, join them. Following last season’s loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship, former Ohio State wide receiver Jameson Williams transferred to Tuscaloosa.

The wide receiver was unhappy with his playing time in Columbus, instead opting for a fresh start. He joins a wide receiving corps featuring Slade Bolden, who spoke on how Williams is fitting in.

“He’s a great addition to our receiver crew,” said Bolden, via Alabama Football on YouTube. “He proved himself at Ohio State to be a good player. We’re excited and happy to have him.”

Additionally, Bolden praised Williams’ speed and how much the defense is forced to account for him.

“Obviously Jameson’s a fast guy … he opens it up, just like with [John] Metchie. We have our own ways and skills of how we run routes, catch balls, get open and finish plays,” said Bolden. “Everybody brings a different attribute to the table. He’s just another guy that brings certain attributes that help us as an offense.”

Bolden believes Williams’ speed and experience will mesh well with the skillsets of himself and John Metchie III. The trio of wide receivers may not reach the heights Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle have, but they’re certainly going to try.

The trio will try to make the team’s transition from Mac Jones to Bryce Young as smooth as it can be.

Slade Bolden on Bryce Young

Bryce Young is entering his first season as the unquestioned starting quarterback of the Alabama Crimson Tide. This summer, the quarterback is preparing for a season where the Alabama offense is undergoing a transformation. Additionally, wide receiver Slade Bolden spoke on the biggest change in Young.

“He’s definitely matured some. Being a freshman, trying to learn the process of not only the offense, but also coach Saban and the program in general,” said Bolden. “He’s becoming a better leader.”

While Bolden, Young and Williams adjust to new roles inside the Crimson Tide offense, Alabama is expected to keep on rolling.
