Alabama transfer EDGE Jayshawn Ross commits to Kansas State
Former Alabama EDGE Jayshawn Ross is headed to the Big 12. Ross has committed to Kansas State, he announced Tuesday afternoon on Instagram.
Jayshawn Ross is heading to Kansas State after spending just one season at Alabama. He appeared in one game against Mercer in mid-November but did not record any statistics on defense.
Jayshawn Ross is a Kansas City, Missouri native who is returning to the Midwest to continue his college football career with the Wildcats.
Prior to signing with Alabama, Ross played high school football at Liberty North. He was the No. 144 overall recruit there as a four-star in the 2024 cycle. He also rated as a Top-20 EDGE in the class and the No. 6 player out of the state of Missouri.
Jayshawn Ross finished his senior season of high school with 23 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and eight sacks. He also spent time on offense, catching 12 passes for 254 yards and four touchdowns.
He is joining a Kansas State program that finished 9-4 (5-4) in 2024. The Wildcats did end the season on a high note, rallying to defeat Rutgers in the Rate Bowl to reach the nine-win mark.

Nebraska transfer running back Gabe Ervin Jr. signs with Kansas State
In addition to landing Jayshawn Ross, Kansas State also recently signed former Nebraska running back Gabe Ervin Jr. out of the transfer portal.
Over four seasons with the Cornhuskers, Ervin accumulated for 455 yards rushing, while scoring five touchdowns. This past season, Ervin only rushed for 41 yards, but he found the end zone twice.
Moreover, Ervin played high school football at Buford (GA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 401 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Nebraska did finally get back to a bowl this season, and the Cornhuskers even won it, beating Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl.
Still, quarterback Dylan Raiola wants more than just a bowl game in 2025.
“Playoffs next year,” Raiola said, regarding Nebraska’s expectations. “It’s as simple as that.”
