Alabama transfer WR Kobe Prentice commits to Baylor
Alabama transfer wide receiver Kobe Prentice is headed to the Big 12. Prentice has committed to Baylor, he announced Tuesday on Instagram.
Prentice is a former top-100 recruit and has been a productive target for the Crimson Tide in the passing game. A junior, Prentice saw his production drop in his first year under new coach Kalen DeBoer.
In 10 games this season, Kobe Prentice caught 11 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown. He was the fifth-leading receiver for the Crimson Tide.
The Alabama native had even better seasons in 2022 and 2023. He caught 31 passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman in 2022, before hauling in 18 catches for 314 yards and two scores in 2023.
Now he is off to Baylor to help a Bears program that finished the 2024 regular season with an 8-4 record. Baylor is set to face LSU in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 31.
Prior to enrolling at Alabama, Kobe Prentice was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 72 overall player in the nation in the 2022 recruiting class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also ranked as the No. 11 wide receiver in his class and the No. 5 overall player from the state of Alabama, hailing from Calera (AL) Calera.

Alabama DL Damon Payne expected to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Kobe Prentice is one of several Alabama players to enter the transfer portal in 2024, joining defensive lineman Damon Payne, who is entering according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Following a redshirt year in 2021, Payne played in six games in 2022, then saw time in 2023 as a rotational player on the defensive line. This past season, he logged 14 tackles and one fumble recovery in eight games.
As a member of the Class of 2021, Payne was a four-star recruit out of Belleville (Mich.) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 2 overall prospect in the state, the No. 7 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 49 overall prospect in the class.
