After taking care of business at home against Ole Miss on Saturday, Alabama hits the road to face Mississippi State in Week 5. The Crimson Tide will look to make it a complete sweep of the Mississippi schools this season, and oddsmakers in Vegas like their chances.

According to FanDuel, the Crimson Tide open as 14.5-point favorite against the Bulldogs. The over/under for the contest is set at 50.5.

After a failed experiment with Tyler Buchner and Ty Simpson in Week 3, Alabama turned back to Jalen Milroe at starting quarterback in Week 4 against the Rebels. He led the Crimson Tide to a 24-10 victory while going 17-of-21 passing for 225 yards, one touchdown and an interception in addition to 28 yards rushing.

The Alabama offense also got a big day from running back Jase McClellan, who finished with 105 yards rushing and a touchdown on 17 carries.

The Crimson Tide trailed 7-6 at halftime and wasted no time getting back on the right side of things in the second half. They opened with a field goal on their first drive and then came up with an interception after Ole Miss took over. Alabama went on to score touchdowns on its next two drives to pull away for good.

Mississippi State was hoping to redeem itself in Week 4 after an embarrassing 41-14 loss in its SEC opener against LSU last week. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs couldn’t get back on track as they suffered a 37-30 loss against South Carolina.

After being more balanced on offense through the first three weeks, Mississippi State leaned heavily on the pass against the Gamecocks. Quarterback Will Rogers finished 30-of-48 passing for 487 yards, one touchdown and one interception. In the run game, however, the Bulldogs managed just 32 yards.

They’ll aim for their first conference win this coming week, Kickoff between Alabama and Mississippi State is set for 9 p.m. ET on Saturday in Starkville.

Mississippi State seeking first win against Alabama in 15 years

Alabama has been largely in control throughout the series history with the Bulldogs, holding an 85-18-3 all-time lead in the series. Mississippi State has not won a game against the Crimson Tide since 2007 when it claimed a 17-12 victory at home.

Last year, Alabama won 30-6 as quarterback Bryce Young passed for 249 yards and two touchdowns. However, with Young on to the NFL, the quarterback play in this contest will be a big storyline to watch.

Each of the past five games have been a blowout in Alabama’s favor that was won by three touchdowns or more. The Bulldogs will hope they can change that, but based on what we’ve seen so far it will be a surprise if they can.
