Top-50 SF Amier Ali announces top 8 schools
Amier Ali, a four-star small forward in the class of 2024, has named his top eight schools. Moving forward, the 6-foot-8 junior out of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy will consider: Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida State, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio State, and Texas.
Ali has only taken one official visit so far — Florida State. The Ohio State Buckeyes will receive his second official on May 6th. He also plans to take trips to Kentucky, Arizona State, and Arkansas in the near future.
The Columbus, Ohio native ranks as the No. 38 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings — the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies (ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals, On3). He’s also the nation’s No. 11 small forward and the No. 7 player in the state of Florida.
Scouting Report
“Amier Ali is a shot-maker; that is to be considered his superpower. He plays with the utmost confidence. He is confident in catch-and-shoot situations, with range that extends beyond the three-point arc. He can also knock down a two and three-dribble pull-up in the mid-range. He is an average athlete with average length. So he can struggle to get past his man off the bounce in the half-court. This leads to some tough shots and shot selection questions. Also, there are some defensive questions there as well. When the shot is not falling, how is he helping the team? When the shot is falling, however, he can string off a good number of points in a row.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw

Ali breaks down his game
Ali discussed his game in a recent interview with On3.
“I would say my strengths are facilitating and shooting is my big one,” he says. “I like getting downhill, getting my teammates involved, and also shooting the ball like catch and shoot is one of my main things and I’ve been striving to get better at it.”
While Ali wants to add muscle to his frame, he also wants to focus on improving his defensive ability.
“Defense,” Ali said when asked what other improvements he wants to make. “I’m getting better at defense but I’m looking to improve that area.”
