Penn State TE signee Andrew Olesh named No. 29 prospect in final 2025 On300
The biggest recruiting win of the 2025 cycle for Penn State came during the final day of the December signing period, as Center Valley (Pa.) Southern Lehigh tight end Andrew Olesh opted to stay in-state and play for the Nittany Lions.
Less than two months later and Olesh in enrolled at PSU as the top-ranked member of its class. On Thursday, the 6-foot-5, 215-pounder was named a five-star prospect in the final edition of the 2025 On300 recruiting rankings.
He checks in at No. 29 overall and is also the top-ranked tight end in the cycle. Olesh continued to excel on the gridiron during his senior season. In 2024, he hauled in 75 receptions for 1,105 yards and 10 touchdowns. His high school career closed with over 2,300 receiving yards and more than 150 receptions.
“I can say that Andrew Olesh is hands down the most talented football player I have ever coached,” Southern Lehigh head coach Phil Sams told BWI. “Andrew is big, fast and has hands and route running skills that are extremely rare. His skills and work ethic are a huge reason why Southern Lehigh High School went to the state semifinals for the first time in school history and won its second-ever district title.”
Olesh heads to Penn State with receiver skillset
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power has been impressed with Olesh’s explosiveness, as well as his impressive wide receiver skills while lining up as a tight end:

“Olesh is a highly skilled, athletic tight end with a game that should translate to the college and pro levels. An explosive athlete who excels in the combine setting, running in the low 4.6 range at college camps. Has wide receiver skills in a tight end body. Lines up split out wide, in-line and even in the backfield for his high school team. An advanced route runner with the ability to create separation with his elite change of direction. Breaks off defenders with his ability to shift gears within his routes. Has strong ball skills. Catches with good technique, framing the ball. Wins in contested catch situations and finishes through contact. Outstanding after the catch.”
Penn State’s class ranks No. 14 in the nation and No. 4 in the Big Ten, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Olesh is one of eight Nittany Lions included in the updated On300. He’s also one of four TEs in the PSU class, alongside four-star Matt Henderson and three-stars Brian Kortovich and Brady O’Hara.
