Anquan Boldin Jr, son of long-time NFL star, enters NCAA transfer portal

Buffalo Bulls sophomore guard Anquan Boldin Jr. has entered the Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. He is the son of long-time NFL star wide receiver Anquan Boldin.
Coming out of high school, Boldin Jr. was an unranked recruit in the Class of 2023. He attended IMG Academy in Delray Beach, Florida. There, he averaged 11 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one block in 27 games. Eventually, he would sign with Buffalo out of high school.
In two seasons with the Bulls, Boldin Jr. has become an important player for Buffalo. In 53 career games played, he has 49 starts and averaged 27 minutes per game over his first two college seasons. This past season, he was one of just two Bulls players to start every game for the team. For his career, he’s averaging 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He’s also shooting 46.4 percent from the field, 28 percent from three-point range, and 66.4 percent from the free-throw line. On the defensive end, he has 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks per game.
Over the two seasons that Anquan Boldin Jr. spent at Buffalo, the Bulls have been coached by George Halcovage. Unfortunately, it’s been a struggle at times as a team over the past two seasons, going a combined 13-49 overall and 6-30 in MAC play. That includes a 12th and 11th place finish in conference play and a five-win improvement from year one to year two.

Boldin Jr’s father, also named Anquan Boldin, played his college football at Florida State. He would go on to be a second round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. His career would go until the 2017 season, playing for a total of five teams in his career. However, his fifth team, the Buffalo Bills, Boldin never saw the field in a game for. Along the way, he won a Super Bowl, the Walter Payton Man of the Year, and was a three-time Pro Bowl selection. For his career, he had 1,076 receptions for 13,779 yards and 82 touchdowns.
Anquan Boldin Jr. will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. It’s unclear, as of now, where he will be looking to transfer to this offseason.
