In-state QB Anthony Coellner returning to Indiana for spring game
Indiana will play its first spring game of the Curt Cignetti era on Thursday night and one of the state’s top 2026 prospects will attend in Carmel (Ind.) High quarterback Anthony Coellner.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Coellner was offered by Cignetti and his staff during his last stop in Bloomington at the end of March.
“Something that catches my eye about IU is how different the culture and team looks from last year,” Coellner told On3. “It feels like everyone is really buying in on what Coach Cignetti is building.”
Assistant coaches Mike Shanahan and Tino Sunseri have also been making an impression.
“I also love how Coach Sunseri and Coach Shanahan build their offense around the quarterback and really trust their quarterback to make the right read and throw,” Coellner said.

This Indiana staff looks forward to Coellner frequenting the campus in the future.
“Also with IU being close to home is always great and will be a huge factor going forward with our relationship and recruiting process,” Coellner said.
Other early offers for Coellner include Cincinnati, West Virginia and Miami (Ohio).
As a sophomore Coellner completed 101 of 180 pass attempts for 937 yards and eight touchdowns with another 298 yards rushing and two more scores playing in the Hoosier State’s largest class.
Coellner has also taken spring visits to USC, UCLA, Michigan State, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Toledo and Miami (Ohio).
