AP Poll Top 25 College Basketball Rankings released after Week 16

The newest college basketball rankings are here as the 2024-25 AP Poll Top 25 was updated after Week 16 of the season.

The top 10 saw some changes as teams elevated themselves with a great weekend. March Madness is just around the corner, so everything is heating up!

With that, let’s dive into the AP Poll Top 25 rankings following Week 16 of the season.

1. Auburn

Auburn took care of business with a win over Georgia, 82-70, as the Tigers ran away in the second half. With the win, Auburn is now 25-2 on the season.

Johni Broome had himself a game with 31 points, 14 rebounds and four assists. Denver Jones added 17 points and an assist in the win.

2. Duke (+2)

A great night for Duke at Madison Square Garden against Illinois. So great in fact, the Blue Devils won by nearly 50 points.

Cooper Flagg put up 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Isaiah Evans had 17 points, two rebounds and two assists. Duke is now 24-3 on the season.

3. Florida (-1)

Florida won another game by double digits with a 79-65 win over LSU Saturday. The Gators improved to 24-3 on the season.

In the win, five players scored in double figures throughout the game. Reuben Chinyelu led the way with 19 points, 13 rebounds and two assists.

4. Houston (+1)

Houston and Iowa State were locked into a top 10 matchup this weekend, won by the Cougars. The 68-59 win put a stamp on Kelvin Sampson’s squad; one of the biggest wins of the year.

LJ Cryer put up 28 points, five rebounds and one assist. Milos Uzan added 19 points, four rebounds and one assist.

5. Tennessee (+1)

Tennessee had one heck of a win on the road against Texas A&M. Going into the weekend, it was another top 10 matchup within the SEC.

Chaz Lanier led the way in the 77-69 win with 30 points and five rebounds. Zakai Zeigler added 16 points, two rebounds and seven assists.

6. Alabama (-2)

Alabama cruised to a 13 point win over Kentucky this weekend, beating the Wildcats 96-83. The Crimson Tide are now 22-5 at the tail end of the regular season.

Mark Sears had one heck of a game with 30 points, four rebounds and four assists. Aden Holloway added 19 points and four rebounds.

7. St. John’s (+3)

Rick Pitino is doing tremendous work during the back nine of his career. St. John’s improved to 25-4 with an 89-75 win over UConn.

Five players were in double figures on Sunday, led by Zuby Ejiofor with 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Kadary Richmond added 18 points, three rebounds and four assists.

8. Michigan State (+6)

Michigan State is rolling now following wins over Purdue and Michigan, both ranked wins this week. The Spartans have Maryland and Wisconsin this coming week, so nothing lightens up.

In the win over Michigan, Jase Richardson led the way with 21 points and six rebounds. Tre Holloman added 18 points, two rebounds and four assists.

9. Iowa State (-1)

Iowa State fell short of a minor upset bid of Houston on the road. After trailing by 12 points in the first half, the Cyclones stormed back but couldn’t close the gap against the Cougars.

Milan Momcilovic put up 16 points, five rebounds and one assist. Nate Heise added 12 points, two rebounds and one assist.

10. Texas Tech (-1)

Following an upset at the hands of TCU, Texas Tech bounced with a dominant win over West Virginia on Saturday. The 73-51 win was much needed.

The Red Raiders were led by JT Toppin with 22 points, eight rebounds and one assist. Christian Anderson added 21 points, four rebounds and four assists.
