AP Poll Top 25 College Basketball Rankings released after Week 4
The newest college basketball rankings are here as the 2024-25 AP Poll Top 25 was updated after Week 4 of the season.
There were some shakeups in the latest rankings but we also saw some teams dominate in the early slate of the season. Too early to tell to make any defining statements, but we got a little more than a month of action under our belts.
Let’s dive into the latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings after Week 4 of the season.
1. Kansas
It was a good week for the Kansas Jayhawks. The team stayed undefeated with wins over Duke and Furman.
Beating Duke last Tuesday really stood out coming out of Week 4. It was a balanced scoring effort in the 75-72 win. Dajuan Harris Jr. led the way with 14 points, three rebounds and nine assists.
2. Auburn (+2)
Auburn improved to 8-0 after two games going into Thanksgiving last week and it was impressive. There were ranked wins over Iowa State and North Carolina and then a double digit win over Memphis.
In the 85-72 win over UNC, Johni Broome led the way with 23 points, 19 rebounds and five assists. Miles Kelly added 15 points in the win.
3. Tennessee (+4)
Tennessee played just one game last week, a 78-35 win over UT Martin. That was coming off the heels of a ranked win over Baylor.
It’s been a really solid start to the season for the Vols, now 8-0 in the early goings of this campaign. Next up is Syracuse Tuesday in Knoxville.
4. Kentucky (+4)
Kentucky improved to 7-0 on the season with a 105-76 win over Georgia State last Friday and also took care of Western Kentucky 87-68 a few days prior. A great start for Mark Pope.
The schedule will heat up this week as the Wildcats hit the road Tuesday to play Clemson. Then Saturday is a showdown with Gonzaga.
5. Marquette (+5)
Marquette took down Stonehill and WCU last week in back to back blowouts. There’s a real test coming up Wednesday: Iowa State.
Then, it doesn’t get any easier this weekend. Wisconsin comes to town for a Saturday afternoon contest to conclude the week.
6. Iowa State (-1)
Iowa State went 2-1 last week after nearly knocking off Auburn, losing 83-81. But then, the Cyclones bounced back with wins over Dayton and Colorado.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier though as Iowa State takes on Marquette Wednesday night. They’ll conclude the week with Jackson State on Saturday.

7. Gonzaga (-4)
So Gonzaga got a few games in last week that started with an 86-78 loss to West Virginia. After the upset, the Bulldogs knocked off Indiana 89-73 and handled Davidson 90-65.
Safe to say, Mark Few didn’t let his team stay in a rut coming into this week. Over the next two weeks, Gonzaga gets Kentucky and UConn in back to back Saturdays.
8. Purdue (+5)
It was a solid week if you were a Purdue basketball fan, not necessarily football though. On the hardwood, the Boilermakers took down NC State 71-61 and knocked off Ole miss 80-78.
In the win over Ole Miss, Trey Kaudman-Renn had 25 points, 13 rebounds and three assists. Myles Colvin added 20 points and four rebounds.
9. Duke (+2)
Duke bounced back from a loss against Kansas with a win over Seattle on Friday. The Blue Devils improved 5-2 with that win.
Next up is Auburn on Wednesday and then Louisville on Sunday. This is going to be an interesting week Jon Scheyer and crew.
10. Alabama (-1)
Alabama took down Houston and Rutgers in Vegas in thrillers. However, the Crimson Tide fell short to Oregon.
Get ready for the schedule difficulty to stay high in the next 12 days. North Carolina is on the docket for Wednesday and then Creighton on the 14th.
