AP Poll Top 25 College Basketball Rankings released after Week 6

The newest college basketball rankings are here as the 2024-25 AP Poll Top 25 was updated after Week 6 of the season.

There were some shakeups in the latest rankings but we also saw some teams dominate in the early slate of the season. Too early to tell to make any defining statements, but we have nearly two months of action under our belts.

Let’s dive into the latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings after Week 6 of the season.

1. Tennessee

Tennessee edged out Illinois on Sunday 66-64 to improve to 10-0 on the season. The Volunteers just keep rolling!

Jordan Gainey had 23 points, two rebounds and two assists. Chaz Lanier added 17 points, two rebounds and one assist. Next up are WCU and Middle Tennessee.

2. Auburn

Auburn dominated Ohio State 91-53 Saturday, manhandling the Buckeyes for 40 minutes. After the first half, the Tigers had a 28 point lead.

Johni Broome continued his stellar season with 21 points, 20 rebounds and six assists in just 26 minutes. Denver Jones added 14 points and Dylan Caldwell logged 10 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

3. Iowa State

Iowa State dominated Omaha 83-51 at home to improve to 10-1 on the season. That’s now six wins in a row for the Cyclones.

It was a pretty balanced effort for Iowa State, as they got Keshon Gilbert to put up 16 points, three rebounds and four assists. Joshua Jefferson and Milan Momcilovic each put up 13 points in the win.

4. Kentucky (+1)

Kentucky won its rivalry game with Louisville on Saturday and get the week to prepare for Ohio State this coming weekend. The Wildcats are now 10-1 on the season.

In the win over Louisville, Lamont Butler had 33 points, three rebounds and six assists. Otega Oweh added 17 points, one rebound and three assists.

5. Duke (-1)

Duke dominated Incarnate Word 72-46 on Tuesday but did not play this weekend. Never fear Blue Devil fans, your 8-2 squad is back in action Tuesday against George Mason. 

Duke gets into ACC play with Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech to conclude the month as well. Jon Scheyer certainly has this team humming.

6. Alabama (+1)

It was a solid win for the Crimson Tide Saturday as Alabama defeated Creighton, holding off a second half surge. The Tide are now 8-2 on the season.

Mark Sears led the way for Alabama, putting up 27 points, six rebounds and four assists. Labaron Philon had 16 points, five rebounds and two assists.

7. Florida (+2)

Florida took care of business by beating Arizona State Saturday, 83-66. The Gators are now 10-0 on the season and rolling right now!

The Gators were led by Walter Clayton, who put up 25 points, three rebounds and three assists. Will Richard added 16 points, six rebounds and two assists.

8. Kansas (+2)

Kansas took care of NC State Saturday, winning 75-60 and breaking a two-game losing streak. The former No. 1 team in the country desperately needed this one.

In the victory, Zeke Mayo put up 26 points, three rebounds and two assists. Hunter Dickinson added 21 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists.

9. Marquette (-3)

Marquette lost its last time out, 71-63 to Dayton. The but the squad did not drop out of the AP Poll Top 10.

The Golden Eagles fell to 9-2 on the season. Kameron Jones led the way against Dayton with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists. Chase Ross added 19 points and five rebounds, despite the loss.

10. Oregon (+2)

Pregon improved to 11-1 on the season with a 79-61 win over Stephen F. Austin. In the dominant affair, it was a pretty balanced offensive attack.

Brandon Angel had 15 points, six rebounds and one assist. Jadrian Tracey and Supreme Cook each put up 14 points in the win.
