AP Poll Top 25 College Basketball Rankings released ahead of 2025 NCAA Tournament

The newest college basketball rankings are here as the 2024-25 AP Poll Top 25 was updated ahead of the start of the NCAA Tournament.
There were shakeups with some of the best teams in the country while others maintained their ranking. But throw it all out the window this week!
With that, let’s dive into the AP Poll Top 25 rankings following the conference tournaments. The NCAA Tournament is finally here!
1. Duke
Duke ended the conference championship weekend as ACC champions with a win over Louisville. The 73-62 win was despite not having Cooper Flagg available.
Tyrese Proctor led the way with 19 points, one rebound and two assists. Kon Knueppel added 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
2. Houston

Houston is at the top! The Cougars won the Big 12 Tournament with a 72-64 win over the Arizona Wildcats.
Milos Uzan had himself a day with 25 points, four rebounds and four assists. Emanuel Sharp added 17 points and three rebounds in the victory.
3. Florida (+1)
Florida were crowned SEC champions with an 86-77 win over Tennessee and it never felt like the Vols ever got going. What a year for the Gators.
Walter Clayton Jr. led the way with 22 points, five rebounds and two assists in the win. Will Richard added 17 points, two rebounds and three assists.
4. Auburn (-1)
It was a tough way to bow out of the SEC Tournament for Auburn. The Tigers go into the NCAA Tournament losers of three out of the last four.
Still, the semifinal run is not the end all be all for Auburn. Now, they turn their attention to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed.
5. St. John’s (+1)

Rick Pitino is inevitable right? St. John’s won the Big East with an 82-66 win over Creighton in the finals and Pitino has now won conference crowns with five separate schools.
RJ Luis Jr. led the way with 29 points, 10 rebounds and one assist. Zuby Ejiofor added 20 points, three rebounds and three assists.
6. Tennessee (+2)
Tennessee fell to Florida in the SEC finals 86-77 and Rick Barnes and company have to quickly turn the page to the NCAA Tournament. Forget about the conference weekend!
In the loss, Zakai Zeigler had 23 points, five rebounds and eight assists. Jordan Gainey also had a good game, putting up 24 points, two rebounds and one assist.

7. Alabama (-2)
Alabama fell short in the SEC semifinals to eventual champion Florida and couldn’t quite get it going. The Crimson Tide fell 104-82.
However, they have the NCAA Tournament to look forward to as a No. 2 seed. Now it’s about Nate Oats and company gearing up for a March Madness run.
8. Michigan State (-1)

Didn’t see Michigan State slipping up did you? In an instant Big Ten classic, the Spartans fell short to Wisconsin 77-74 in the semifinals.
Tom Izzo and crew will work on winning a national title next, but you can expect MSU to be in contention all March long. It’s just about finishing the job for the legendary head coach.
9. Texas Tech
Texas Tech lost 86-80 to Arizona in the Big 12 semifinals, a disappointing end to their conference conquest. Still, they are in the top 10 of the AP Poll.
Kevin Overton had 20 points, six rebounds and three assists in that loss. Christian Anderson added 19 points, two rebounds and two assists.
10. Louisville (+3)
A valiant effort by Louisville, but the Cardinals fell short to Duke in the ACC finals. Now, attention turns to the NCAA Tournament for this top 10 AP Poll team.
Terrence Edwards Jr. showed up though. He put up 29 points, six rebounds and three assists in the loss to the Blue Devils.
