AP Poll Top 25 College Football Rankings released after Week 14
On3

The latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings are in after Week 14 of college football and there were some shake ups following another wild weekend!

People might be upset that their team lost to a rival, but that’s college football in a nutshell! It was a bonkers weekend, so there were some major changes to the rankings.

Let’s dive into the newest AP Poll Top 25 rankings after Week 14.

1. Oregon

Oregon dominated Washington 49-21 to secure an undefeated regular season and will take on Penn State in the Big Ten title game. This game was a little close for comfort early on, but the Ducks pulled away.

It was actually Dan Lanning’s first win over Washington in his career. Not that he got that monkey off his back, Oregon’s next step is to lock up a No. 1 seed.

2. Texas (+1)

Texas beat Texas A&M in their first matchup since 2011. Well worth the wait, at least for the Longhorns. Now, they’ll battle Georgia for the SEC title.

A win and Texas could have an argument for the No. 1 seed, should Oregon lose. Now if they lose, how far will Texas tumble?

3. Penn State (+1)

Penn State was all smiles after Saturday night. Not only did they secure an 11-1 season with a 44-7 win over Maryland, Ohio State lost.

With that loss, Penn State stole the Buckeyes’ spot in the Big Ten Championship Game against Oregon. Sure, the Nittany Lions lost to Ohio State and PSU fans are still mad about it, but they can rectify the error.

4. Notre Dame (+1)

Notre Dame went out west and beat down the Trojans 49-28. So what’s next? The College Football Playoff of course!

At this point, the Fighting Irish should have a home playoff game in the first round, since there’s no conference championship to play for. 10 wins in a row? Notre Dame earned it.

5. Georgia (+1)

Georgia got into some Friday night madness but got to watch the rest of it unfold on Saturday. The Bulldogs edged out Georgia Tech 44-42 in eight overtimes!

Now, they’ll get a rematch with Texas in the SEC Championship. A win gives them a first round bye. Who knows what a loss does? But it might not kick them out of the playoff.

6. Tennessee (+1)

Tennessee earned its 10th win of the season with a comeback over Vanderbilt. It was ugly early, amid a 36-23 win. Down 14-0? Yikes.

Still, the Vols battled back and should’ve clinched a playoff spot with that victory. Now, Tennessee plays the waiting game until Selection Sunday.

7. Ohio State (-5)

Down goes Ohio State! Again! A fourth straight loss to Michigan seemed improbable coming into the week. But man, it happened.

Ohio State shouldn’t miss the playoff, but the Buckeye faithful can’t feel good about the seeding to come. Perhaps they’ll even be on the road in the first round.

8. SMU (+1)

SMU is close to locking up a playoff spot now at 11-1 following the dismantling of Cal. But, nothing’s guaranteed in college football.

The good news is, the Mustangs have a win and get in scenario with Clemson in the ACC Championship. That should be good for a top four seed.

9. Indiana (+1)

Indiana just absolutely boat raced Purdue 66-0 to finish off the regular season at 11-1. Playoff spot? Yeah, it should be secured.

After Ohio State lost to Michigan, it might not be unthinkable to see Indiana win a playoff game in the first round. The Hoosiers will play the waiting game.

10. Boise State (+1)

Boise State had a more convincing win over Oregon State than the Wyoming game. But this team is still 11-1 and ready for the playoffs, so long as they beat UNLV for the Mountain West title.

It’s a rematch and it’s hard to beat a team twice in one year. But hey, Boise State has Heisman contender Ashton Jeanty in the backfield.
