AP Poll Top 25 College Football Rankings released after Week 6 following slew of upsets
On3

The latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings are in after Week 6 of college football and there were some shake ups following plenty of upsets.

First, Alabama is the headliner after the Crimson Tide’s loss to Vanderbilt on the road. Not only that, Tennessee went down to Arkansas and USC and Michigan lost to Big Ten foes Minnesota and Washington, respectively. Chaos!

Let’s dive into the newest AP Poll Top 25 rankings after Week 6.

1. Texas (+1)

Texas didn’t have to do anything this week to look better across college football. The Longhorns can’t lose to a bye week!

Still undefeated, the biggest game of the year is here with Red River on the docket. All eyes are on the QB room though if Quinn Ewers can return. If not, Arch Manning will be back under center.

2. Ohio State (+1)

Ohio State dominated Iowa 35-7 but only had a 7-0 lead at halftime. Still, once the Buckeyes turned on the juice, this was no contest.

This team is the total package but the biggest test comes this weekend. Oregon will welcome Ohio State Saturday in one of the biggest games of the year.

3. Oregon (+3)

Oregon routed Michigan State so things seem to be clicking. Although, the Ducks had to overcome two Dillon Gabriel redzone interceptions early on.

But, the next game could very well determine the trajectory of the season. One game won’t change everything, but it’ll be a big measuring stick against Ohio State in Eugene.

4. Penn State (+3)

Penn State didn’t start fast, but at a certain point, the Nittany Lions weren’t in danger against UCLA. The Bruins scored a garbage time touchdown to cut it to a two-score deficit.

Penn State has to turn its attention to USC now, on the road no less. It’ll be interesting to see how PSU operates on the road following a month’s worth of games at home.

5. Georgia

Georgia could take advantage of Alabama’s loss since they did not lose a second time. Of course, head to head, advantage Crimson Tide.

But, an SEC title game rematch is on the table, if Texas doesn’t make it, and Georgia got back on the right foot. The Bulldogs still have to play the Longhorns on the schedule, but all is right in Athens for now.

6. Miami (+2)

Miami beat the clock and replay officials again! All jokes aside, Miami came back down from a 25-point deficit to win 39-38 and remain undefeated and even moved up the AP Poll.

The Hurricanes have a week to rest and get right for the second half of the season.

7. Alabama (-6)

Alabama comes down from the mountaintop with an upset loss to Vanderbilt on the road. How the mighty have fallen. Heck, Paul Finebaum even blamed Nick Saban, who’s retired, for this loss!

There’s opportunity for Alabama to bounce back and one loss won’t eliminate the College Football Playoff hopes of course. But the SEC suddenly got really interesting, if it wasn’t already.

8. Tennessee (-4)

Tennessee lost its momentum with a 19-14 loss to Arkansas on Saturday night. Where did the offense go? Because of that, down the AP Poll you go!

Heck, even the defense is facing questions now as Arkansas backup QB Malachi Singleton drove the Razorbacks 60 yards down field for the winning score. The Vols’ No. 1 scoring offense looked vastly different this weekend.

9. Ole Miss (+3)

Ole Miss has a high powered offense and it was shut down last week in a loss to Kentucky. In the win over South Carolina on Saturday, Jaxson Dart was without a touchdown pass.

Still, the running game took over and it was a comfortable win for the Rebels. It was much needed for Lane Kiffin and crew to get back in the thick of things in the SEC.

10. Clemson (+5)

Clemson has returned to the top 10! Who would’ve thought that possible following that opening weekend loss to Georgia right?

Well, the AP Poll is kind to the Tigers this week. This weekend, Clemson took down Florida State 29-13 on the road.
