Ap Poll Week 7
On3

The latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings are in after Week 7 of college football and there were some shake ups following another wild weekend!

How about Oregon beating Ohio State, LSU beating Ole Miss and heck, Kansas State edging out Colorado on the road? College football didn’t disappoint this weekend.

Let’s dive into the newest AP Poll Top 25 rankings after Week 6.

1. Texas

Texas had a good weekend right? It’s always fun to beat rival Oklahoma and stay undefeated isn’t it?

The Longhorns had a convincing victory too after a slow start. The 34-3 final will certainly look good on paper and after overcoming an early turnover, Quinn Ewers settled in during his first action back from injury.

2. Oregon (+1)

Oregon held on for dear life with a 32-31 win over Ohio State in front of the home crowd. Dillon Gabriel and Jordan James had banner nights throwing and running with the football.

Now moving forward, Oregon is the team to beat in the Big Ten, along with Penn State. The Ducks have the inside track to play Ohio State again in Indianapolis or the Nittany Lions, at least, based on current projections.

3. Penn State (+1)

Penn State came back in the second half to beat USC 33-30 in overtime on the road. Even though State College’s runway isn’t long enough, Penn State had some Harrisburg energy Saturday!

The Nittany Lions remained undefeated and are quietly emerging as a legit playoff threat and potential Big Ten champion. We’ll see how the second half of the season plays out.

4. Ohio State (-2)

Ohio State fell just short and perhaps Will Howard was not aware of the clock. But, don’t blame the whole game on the quarterback because he’s certainly good enough to win them some other big games.

Not only that, Ohio State could very well win out and see Oregon once again, this time for the Big Ten title. No need to push the panic button in Columbus.

5. Georgia

The Bulldogs edged out Mississippi State in a 41-31 shootout to get another win on the schedule. Kirby Smart controversy aside, the Bulldogs kept themselves in position for the SEC.

But how do the Bulldogs stack up against Texas this coming weekend? With a loss already, Georgia can ill afford a second one and pray for a wild card spot in the College Football Playoff.

6. Miami

Miami was idle this week and it was probably a much needed break following the thrilling wins over Virginia Tech and Cal. Still, the Hurricanes are at the top of the ACC and undefeated.

So far, this looks like the best team by far in the conference, despite the last two close games. Clemson still has question marks but might be on their way to erasing them. Speaking of which, more on them later!

7. Alabama

Alabama is on shaky ground right now, but the Crimson Tide emerged victorious against an upset-minded South Carolina squad. If it weren’t for Alabama defending a two-point conversion, who knows what would’ve happened?
There could be questions about Kalen DeBoer and Jalen Milroe, at least in the context of the last two weeks. But they can put all worries to rest with a win on the road next week at Tennessee.

8. LSU (+5)

LSU looked bound for a disappointing campaign under Brian Kelly after a Game 1 loss to USC. Good thing we don’t overreact to one game right?!

The Tigers have won five straight games and are suddenly in contention for the SEC at the halfway point of the year. It’s about to get really fun in Baton Rouge.

9. Iowa State (+2)

Iowa State might be the most under the radar team in the country. Perhaps no longer though considering the Cyclones are 6-0 after a 28-16 win at West Virginia and atop the Big 12.

Maybe this is the season fans have been waiting for under Matt Campbell. A few more wins and it’ll finally be the breakout campaign years in the making.

10. Clemson

The Clemson comeback story since being blown out by Georgia during the first game of the year might be overlooked. The Tigers have won five straight games and suddenly Dabo Swinney looks like a genius again.

Cade Klubnik threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns in the 49-14 win over Wake Forest. As it stands, Clemson should be the favorite in its remaining six games. Welcome back?
