AP Poll Top 25 College Football Rankings released after Week 9
On3

The latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings are in after Week 9 of college football and there were some shake ups following another wild weekend!

Oregon dominated once again and reaffirmed its spot at the top of the Big Ten, which features top contenders Ohio State and Penn State. In the SEC, Texas scraped by, Alabama dominated and Texas A&M is a real threat. The ACC and Big 12 have undefeated teams at the top but other contenders lurking as well.

Let’s dive into the newest AP Poll Top 25 rankings after Week 9.

1. Oregon

Oregon might’ve put up their best performance of the season with a 38-9 win over a top 20 Illinois team. The Ducks scored 35 points in the first half!

Here’s a fun fact about QB Dillon Gabriel: he’s now the No. 2 all-time passer in NCAA history with 295 yards Saturday. Oregon is now 3-0 against ranked opponents this year, which is quite impressive.

2. Georgia

Georgia needed a bye week after beating Texas and putting themselves back into the national title picture. The Bulldogs were banged up, plain and simple.

All-American guard Tate Ratledge could return this coming weekend against Florida, which would be a big boost. Could Kirby Smart’s crew run the table?

3. Penn State

Penn State controlled the second half against Wisconsin to knotch a key win in Madison and stay undefeated. However, the Nittany Lions lost QB Drew Allar and it remains to be seen what his status is for Ohio State.

Not only that, Penn State lost Dan Dennis-Sutton, which could be a massive loss for the defense. This could be Penn State’s season next weekend.

4. Ohio State

Speaking of those Buckeyes, Ohio State narrowly defeated Nebraska over the weekend but it wasn’t pretty. Will Howard played well, the defense did too, but the run game wasn’t helpful.

The good news is, if the defense plays at that level, they could win ugly games against the likes of Penn State and perhaps Oregon in a rematch. We’ll see this weekend!

5. Miami (+1)

Miami dominated Florida State to remain undefeated and the Hurricanes are clearly the best team in the state of Florida! They’re also the best in the ACC to this point.

Damien Martinez had a great game while Cam Ward turned in his most “meh” performance of the year. No matter, he still caught a touchdown on a Philly Special play. The ‘Canes should be favored until the ACC title game.

6. Texas (-1)

Texas got the win, looked good in some spots, but just got out of Vanderbilt with a victory. The 27-24 win was probably a little too close for comfort, even if Vandy’s last touchdown was with less than a minute.

The Longhorns get a much needed bye week before playing teams like Arkansas and Texas A&M that’ll certainly be circled. They’re still on track for the SEC Championship.

7. Tennessee

Tennessee had the week off following a win over Alabama and it’s clear, the Vols are a contender. The rest of the way? Well, there’s a path to the CFP.

Heck, Tennessee is in the running for the SEC title if they can run the table here. Playing Georgia could determine that fate.

8. Notre Dame (+4)

Notre Dame absolutely dominated its game against a previously-undefeated Navy to improve to 7-1 on the season. The Fighting Irish caused six turnovers in this one after the Midshipmen didn’t even fumble all year.

Riley Leonard was responsible for three touchdowns on offense and Jeremiyah Love ran for 102 yards and two scores. The Fighting Irish moved up four spots to get back into the Top 10!

9. BYU (+2)

BYU is still undefeated and the Cougars are in the driver’s seat for the Big 12 title. They dominated UCF over the weekend in the Sunshine State.

BYU also heads into a bye week ahead of a rivalry game against Utah, which has its own problems. BUt this “Holy War” will be must-see TV.

10. Texas A&M (+4)

What in the world did Mike Elko do to get this good at his new spot? He comes over from Duke and all of a sudden, he has the Aggies at 7-1 and they’re in the thick of the SEC and College Football Playoff race.

Taking a shot at Jimbo Fisher after a win over LSU? Man, fire us up, coach. The Aggies are a real player here!
