AP Poll Top 25 rankings revealed following Selection Sunday
The latest AP Poll top 25 rankings were revealed following Selection Sunday and there were some changes as we now have our tournament teams.
Of course the rankings won’t matter overall at this point. It’s survive and advance for the next month so choose wisely if you have a rooting interest!
Let’s dive into the AP Poll top 25 following Selection Sunday.
1. UConn
UConn dominated its way to a Big East title as the Huskies beat Marquette Saturday. The defending champs are a No. 1 seed at NCAAs.
In the win, Donovan Clingan had 22 points, 16 rebounds and two assists. Tristen Newton added 13 points, five rebounds and 10 assists.
2. Houston (-1)
That wasn’t a pretty end to the Big 12 Tournament for Houston. Getting blown out by Iowa State was a tough watch, but the Cougars are still a No. 1 seed.
In the loss to the Cyclones, Jamal Shead just had 10 points, two rebounds and three assists. Ja’Vier Francis was the next leading scorer at just six points.
3. Purdue
The Boilermakers went home early in the Big Ten semifinals with a buzzer beater loss to Wisconsin. Perhaps at NCAAs Purdue can overcome some upset demons.
In the loss, Zach Edey put up 28 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Fletcher Loyer and Lance Jones had nine points each, but not much other production from the team.
4. Iowa State (+3)
The Cyclone are on fire right now and they shouldn’t be trifled with at NCAAs. The Big 12 champions made a statement with a win over Houston.
Milan Momcilovic had 18 points, six rebounds and one assist in the win. Keshon Gilbert had 16 points, six rebounds and three assists. Hason Ward added 13 points himself.
5. North Carolina (-1)
The Tar Heels fell short to rival NC State in the ACC finals. That wasn’t exactly expected considering the Wolfpack controlled the entire game.
Still, the Tar Heels got a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Moving forward, veterans like Armando Bacot will have to lead the way if this team wants to win a championship.
6. Tennessee (-1)
The Volunteers were bounced early by Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament. Upsets didn’t have to wait for March Madness as they definitely messed around with the conference bracket.
In the loss, Zakai Zeigler led the way with 20 points, two rebounds and two assists. But it wasn’t enough as Dalton Knecht added just 14 points.
7. Auburn (+5)
The SEC Champions dominated Florida over the weekend to claim the conference crown. An emotional Bruce Pearl saw his team lead from the jump.

9. Arizona (-3)
The Wildcats fell to Oregon in the Pac-12 semifinals, an unceremonious end to the conference they called home. Still, the NCAA Tournament is up next.
In the loss, Oumar Ballo had 14 points and 12 rebounds. However, the only other scorer in double figures was Pelle Larsson, who had 11 points.
10. Illinois (+3)
The Big Ten champions took out Wisconsin in the finals and are rolling into March Madness. Putting up 93 points is no easy task.
