AP Poll Top 25 revealed following Week 10 of college basketball season
The latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings are in as the college basketball season rolled on after a wild Week 10. There were upsets and bounce backs all over the place.
Surely there were shakeups across the rankings, especially the top 10 once again. This isn’t chaos, this is college basketball. Or whatever Jon Rothstein says.
Let’s dive into the latest AP Poll top 25 rankings as we hit mid-January.
1. UConn (+3)
UConn took down Georgetown 80-67 to improve to 16-2 on the season. The defending national champions kept the train rolling.
Alex Karaban led the way with 26 points, five rebounds and two assists. Cam Spencer added to it with 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Coming up, Creighton comes to town Wednesday.
2. Purdue (-1)
Purdue stubbed its toe a little bit with a loss to Nebraska last week but rebounded, no pun intended, with a win over Penn State. Back and forth the Boilermakers go.
Now 15-2, Purdue is still the top team in the Big Ten and it’s hard to argue anyone surpassing them in the regular season. Zach Edey was a beast again in the win, putting up 30 points, 20 rebounds and three assists.
3. Kansas
Kansas, like Purdue, went back and forth this past week. The Jayhawks were upset by UCF in a stunner but then beat Oklahoma.
So yeah, bad loss and then an awesome win? Sounds about right. Hunter Dickinson rolled against the Sooners, putting up 24 points and 14 rebounds while Kevin McCullar Jr. added 21 points.
4. North Carolina (+3)
Last time out for the Tar Heels? They dominated Syracuse 103-67 to improve to 13-3 on the season and kept it rolling.
RJ Davis led the way with 22 points, two rebounds and two assists. Meanwhile, Armando Bacot added 16 points, 11 rebounds and one assist.
5. Houston (-3)
Brutal week for Houston as the Cougars lost two in a row after the 14-0 start to the season. Losing to TCU on the road hurt considering the one point margin.
This isn’t the end of course, Houston can get back on the positive end of things. J’wan Roberts put up a double-double in the loss to TCU: 20 points and 13 rebounds.
6. Tennessee (-1)
After being upset by Mississippi State, Tennessee bounced back over the weekend with a win over Georgia on the road. But again, the seesaw affair of college basketball.
Still, the Volunteers are a very solid 12-4 on the year. Dalton Knecht was awesome Saturday. He put up 36 points, four rebounds and three assists.
7. Duke (+4)
Duke improved to 13-3 on the season with a win over Georgia Tech and the beat rolls on. That’s eight wins in a row since the Yellow Jackets upset the Blue Devils back in December.

Kyle Filipowski led the way with 30 points, 13 rebounds and four assists. Jeremy Roach added 18 points and three assists in the conference win.
8. Kentucky (-2)
A tough end to the week for the Wildcats as Kentucky dropped its third game of the year with an upset loss to Texas A&M. Otherwise, it’s been a good first half of the season for the boys in blue.
In the loss, Antonio Reeves led the way with 22 points, six rebounds and one assist. DJ Wagner added 18 points. By the way, Wagner is steadily improving and could be key down the stretch.
9. Baylor (+5)
Baylor improved to 14-2 on the season with a close win over Big 12 foe Cincinnati. After being tied at halftime, the Bears did just a little more than the Bearcats.
It was a pretty even keel type of game in terms of production for Baylor. Ja’Kobe Walter had 14 points, seven rebounds and one assist. Langston Love added 14 points as well.
10. Memphis (+3)
Memphis dominated Wichita State Sunday 112-86. Now it’s 10 wins in a row for the Tigers since a loss to Ole Miss in early December.
In the win over the Shockers, Jahvon Quinerly led the way with 23 points an 11 assists. Jaykwon Walton added 23 points as well to go along with three rebounds.
