AP Poll Top 25 revealed following Week 13 of college basketball season

The latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings are in following Week 13 of the college basketball season and there were some intriguing results.

Some of the elite teams remained at the top but it’s time to pay attention to some new blood once again. It’s always madness following the rankings week to week.

Let’s dive into this week’s poll featuring some movement across the top 25 in college basketball.

1. UConn

UConn ended the week with a 77-64 win over St. John’s Saturday after beating Providence last Wednesday. Overall, the Huskies kept it rolling and are now 20-2.

In the win over the Red Storm, Cam Spencer rolled his way to 23 points, five rebounds and three assists while Stephon Castle had 21 points. Tristen Newton put up 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

2. Purdue

Purdue won a heavyweight fight Sunday against Big Ten foe Wisconsin. Going into it, it was the No. 2 vs. No. 6 matchup in college basketball.

In the win, Lance Jones was the leading scorer with 20 points, six rebounds and three assists. Zach Edey put up 18 points, 13 rebounds and two assists.

3. North Carolina

Forget that loss to Georgia Tech last Tuesday, the Tar Heels bounced back with a win over Duke Saturday to erase the bitterness. It’s always great to beat your rival especially when the Blue Devils were in the top 10.

In the 93-84 win, Armando Bacot had 25 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Harrison Ingram added 21 points, 13 rebounds and one assist aiding the victory.

4. Kansas (+4)

Welcome back Kansas! The Jayhawks knocked off Oklahoma State at home and then beat Houston in a top 10 matchup on Saturday.

Kansas controlled the effort, winning 78-65. In the win, Hunter Dickinson put up 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Kevin McCullar Jr. and Johnny Furphy each put up 17 points.

5. Houston (-1)

It was looking good for Houston after the Cougars beat in-state foe Texas last Monday. But the loss to Kansas definitely put a damper on the weekend.

LJ Cryer led the way with 24 points, one rebound and three assists. Emanuel Sharp and J’wan Roberts each added 11 points, with Roberts getting 13 rebounds for the double-double.

6. Tennessee (-1)

How to erase the bad taste of an upset loss to South Carolina out of your mouth? Well, beat Kentucky of course! The Volunteers won 103-92 on the road.

Zakai Ziegler had 26 points, two rebounds and 13 assists for the double-double while Josiah-Jordan James had 26 points, five rebounds and one assist. It was a banner day for the Volunteers.

7. Marquette (+2)

Marquette pushed its winning streak to six games with a win over Georgetown on the road. This one wasn’t close as the Golden Eagles took it 91-57.

Now 17-5 on the season, Marquette looks to be peaking at the right time. In the win, Kameron Jones led the way with 31 points while three other players were in double figures.

8. Arizona (+3)

Arizona increased its own winning streak to three games with an 82-71 win over Stanford on Sunday. The Wildcats are now 18-5 on the season and rebounded from loss to Washington State and Oregon State last month.

Caleb Love led the way with 18 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the victory over Stanford. Oumar Ballo had 18 points as well to go along with 13 rebounds and two assists.

9. Duke (-2)

Boy that one was frustrating for the Blue Devils against their arch rival North Carolina. In the 93-84 loss on the road, all Duke could wonder is, when is the next time they play? Well, March 9th to be exact.

Jared McCain did all he could for Duke, putting up 23 points, 11 rebounds and one assist. Kyle Filipowski added 22 points and five rebounds.

10. Illinois (+4)

After being upset by Northwestern last month, Illinois won three games in a row, including a squeaker, 87-84, over Nebraska. The Fighting Illini are now 18-5 on the season.

Coleman Hawkins had 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the win. Terrence Shannon Jr. added 18 points, two rebounds and two assists.
