AP reveals 2022 All-ACC honors, all-conference teams
One day after the ACC announced its postseason awards, the AP announced its all-league honors as voted by 15 writers from across the league. Wake Forest continued to rack up the hardware.
The AP lined up exactly with the ACC’s voting with its individual honors. Wake Forest star Alondes Williams is the AP ACC Player of the Year and Demon Deacons coach Steve Forbes was once again tabbed as the AP’s ACC Coach of the Year. Duke standout and potential No. 1 overall draft pick Paolo Banchero picked up Newcomer of the Year honors.
Forbes had seven of the 15 votes while Notre Dame coach Mike Brey received four and Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski picked up two. He helped Wake Forest go from No. 13 in the ACC preseason poll to the No. 5 seed in the ACC Tournament, which starts Tuesday.

Despite winning Player of the Year, Williams only received three votes for Newcomer of the Year. He transferred to Wake Forest from Oklahoma this past offseason and averaged 19.3 points per game for the Demon Deacons this season. For Duke, Banchero 17.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game as a freshman to help the Blue Devils to the No. 1 seed in the league tournament.
In Player of the Year voting, Williams received nine of the 15 votes ahead of North Carolina star Armando Bacot and Banchero, who received five votes and one vote, respectively.
