New AP Top 25 Poll released after chaotic Week 10 of college football
A couple of big-time matchups got a lot of the attention in Week 10, but the excitement spread all throughout college football this weekend. Nine ranked teams fell during Week 10, and those chaotic results have impacted the AP Top 25 Poll in a big way.
Georgia was the No. 1 team in last week’s AP rankings, and the Bulldogs remain in that spot after knocking off No. 3 Tennessee on Saturday. No. 2 Ohio State played in a tight game that was heavily impacted by poor weather, but the Buckeyes ultimately prevailed 21-7 over Northwestern. No. 5 Clemson suffered its first loss of the season and in brutal fashion, falling 35-14 to Notre Dame. No. 6 Alabama also traveled to Baton Rouge and fell to No. 15 LSU in overtime, meaning that half of the top six AP-ranked teams entering Week 10 lost over the weekend.
The chaos was far from over beyond that point, though. No. 13 Kansas State lost against Texas, No. 14 Illinois fell to Michigan State, No. 18 Oklahoma State continued its freefall against Kansas, No. 20 Wake Forest lost to No. 21 NC State, No. 22 Syracuse fell 19-9 to Pitt, and No. 24 Oregon State lost against Washington.
With an overall record of 15-9 from the AP Top 25 during Week 10, changes have come in this week’s rankings. And with all eyes on the College Football Playoff and continued conference races, the excitement is sure to continue filling up our Saturdays over the final few weeks of the season.
