AP Top 25 Poll revealed following exciting Week 2 of college football
Week 2 of college football had it all. From shocking upsets to major blowouts to exciting games that came down to the wire, this weekend’s slate was an important one with some telling results. Following all of the action in Week 2, the latest AP Top 25 Poll has been revealed.
The exciting action got underway right out of the gates on Saturday. ESPN College GameDay and FOX Big Noon Kickoff both camped out in Austin ahead of a highly anticipated matchup between Alabama and Texas. The game lived up to the hype, perhaps in a way that nobody truly expected. It looked like Texas might have pulled off the upset with a go-ahead field goal in the final minutes. But Alabama marched back down the field and connected on a field goal of their own in the final seconds to win it 20-19.
Elsewhere in the top five, there were plenty of blowouts. Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson all cruised to stress-free victories. Beyond the top five, though, teams weren’t as fortunate.
Texas A&M‘s loss to Appalachian State was a shocking and disappointing one for the Aggies and Jimbo Fisher. But they weren’t the only one to drop a game most expected them to win. Notre Dame also fell in disappointing fashion, falling 26-21 to Marshall.
Baylor also fell in Week 2, marking three losses for last week’s top ten AP ranked teams. The Bears, though, played in an intriguing top 25 matchup against BYU, and the Cougars needed two overtime periods to come away with the 26-20 triumph.
Florida and Kentucky also played in an intriguing top 25 contest, with the Wildcats coming away with the 26-16 victory. Tennessee needed overtime to come away with a win, but the Volunteers escaped with an exciting 34-27 victory over Pitt in another great top 25 matchup.

Two other teams ranked in last week’s AP Top 25 lost during Week 2, as Wisconsin fell to Washington State and Houston lost in double overtime against Texas Tech.
Things might look very different coming out of Week 2, and that is apparent in this week’s AP Top 25. There are plenty of changes when compared to last week’s AP Top 25, just as there was in this week’s Coaches Poll.

Notre Dame dropped out of the rankings, as did Wisconsin. Kentucky was the biggest beneficiary in Week 2, rising 11 spots. BYU and Tennessee each rose nine spots.
