Report: Appalachian State, Neal Brown have had multiple discussions about open head coaching job
Neal Brown could soon go from leading one group of Mountaineers to another. After being fired as the head coach at West Virginia earlier this week, it appears as though he may have a new head coaching job soon.
Brown has had multiple conversations with Appalachian State about its head coaching vacancy, according to Dan Wetzel. The Yahoo Sports columnist revealed the news on Twitter Thursday afternoon.
Brown went 37-35 in six seasons at West Virginia. He was hired as the head coach of the Mountaineers after going 35-16 in four seasons at Troy. He had three 10-win seasons as the head coach of the Trojans.
As for Appalachian State, that program has an opening after head coach Shawn Clark was fired earlier this week. Perhaps a return to the Sun Belt would be good for both Appalachian State and Brown.
It will be interesting to see how the search continues to play out for App. State.

This team, like those before them, showed up every day, resilient, united, and determined. I love this group and know they will navigate this transition with class and integrity. Our family was proud to call West Virginia home.
