The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly signed veteran free agent Jeff Driskel to a one-year deal for the 2023 season, according to Ian Rapoport. The San Francisco 49ers’ sixth-round pick in 2016 is heading to his sixth NFL team.

Driskel was most recently with the Houston Texans during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. The Texans attempted to convert the 6-foot-4 quarterback into a tight end, however, they returned him to his position backing up Davis Mills in 2022.

Since 2016, Driskel has been with the 49ers, the Bengals, the Lions, the Broncos, the Texans and now he’s joining the Cardinals. Arizona went 4-13 in 2022, earning themselves the No. 3 pick in this year’s NFL Draft. He’ll be backing up cemented Cardinals starter Kyler Murray.

The former Florida Gators starting quarterback has 216 career completions in the league, totaling 2,228 passing yards, 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He played in seven games this past season for the Texans but his most productive season was in 2018 with Cincinnati. He had just over 1,000 passing yards.

Over his seven seasons so far in the league, Driskel has banked more than $7.8 million. His contract with Houston was for one-year, $1.035 million.

Driskel left Florida after four seasons and became the start for one season at Louisiana Tech. He threw for 4,033 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2015 before entering the draft.
