Arizona State flips DB Keith Abney from Utah State
Kenny Dillingham is making some splashes in his first Early Signing Period in Tempe.
Arizona State flipped three-star ATH Keith Abney away from Utah State on National Signing Day after quietly landing an offer and officially visiting over the weekend. The Consensus‘ No. 60-ranked ATH out of Waxahachie (Texas) saw all the writing on the wall quickly during last weekend’s trip to campus.
“I loved the coaches at Arizona State and how they were real with me,” Abney told On3. “It’s obviously a huge opportunity to have a chance to play in the Pac-12. Coach Dillingham comes from a winning program and knows what it takes to win games on the big stage.”
Abney made plays on both sides of the ball for Waxahachie this past season and in the process and drew the eyes of coaches across the Lone Star State. That includes former Texas, USC and most recently TCU Director of Recruiting Bryan Carrington, now the Sun Devils’ cornerbacks under Dillingham.

“Coach Carrington was real with me and said I can make an impact as soon as I get to campus,” Abney said. “A lot of people who knew the coaches there told me nothing but good things about them. The city is absolutely beautiful.”
Abney is the No. 202 player from the state of Texas, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
