Arizona State head coach reacts to Kevin Schnall ejection after facing same punishment for same reason

In possibly the deciding game of the Men’s College World Series, Coastal Carolina’s Kevin Schnall was ejected and, because of that, will not be back coaching for the rest of the day today or, if necessary, tomorrow in Omaha. That’s a big punishment in the final series, which Arizona State’s Willie Bloomquist knows all too well about.
Bloomquist, like many others around college baseball, reacted to the ejection of Schnall during Game 2 of the championship in the College World Series between No. 6 LSU and No. 13 Coastal Carolina. He quote tweeted in response to a video of Angel Campos, the same umpire who threw out Schnall this afternoon, throwing him out in a similar argument in a game back in March.
Schnall, as well as an assistant with 1B Matt Schilling, were ejected by the bottom of the first inning. That’s with Schnall getting into an argument and shouting over balls and strikes at home plate with Campos, specifically shouting Campos had “missed three pitches”. Campos would also toss Schilling for comments he made in the aftermath of the moment.
Because of the argument beyond when the ejection came, Schnall will also be out for the remainder of the series if they were to get to a Game 3 tomorrow. That’s per ruling in the NCAA.
It’s quite the call with a championship on the line as one of the team’s head coaches will not be in the dugout for essentially two of the three games. With that, Jeff Passan, Karl Ravech, and Kyle Peterson at ESPN have all reacted to the decision to eject him, whether with negativity or just shock.
Still, as it turns out, it’s not the first time this season in which Campos has done this with Bloomquist being reminded of getting thrown out by him in a loss to the Sun Devils’ in-state rival in mid-March. The Chanticleers will now have to hope the same result doesn’t come for them with everything on the line today, and possibly tomorrow, in Omaha.

ESPN reacts to Campos’ ejection of Schnall
ABC is airing the finals of the Men’s College World Series with several top names in their baseball coverage calling or commenting on the games between the Tigers and Chanticleers. That said, even they can’t believe the ejections in that spot.
“There are very few combinations of words in the English language that warrant ejecting a coach from an elimination game in the Men’s College World Series finals. And yet Coastal Carolina’s Kevin Schnall — and first-base coach Matt Schilling — just got run in the first inning,” Jeff Passan tweeted. “‘You missed three pitches’ does not qualify as one of those combinations. If this is all it took for Kevin Schnall to get ejected, that is absurd.”
“That’s an aggressive ejection. … Angel Campos is a name familiar in umpiring circles, had some major league experience as well, a veteran umpire…But Schnall and the first base coach Schilling have both been ejected from this College World Series game in the bottom of the first inning,” Karl Ravech said during his play-by-play on ABC. “Boy I’ve never seen that before. The Coastal Carolina dugout is minus their first base coach, and more important than that, their head coach, with eight innings to play,” Ravech continued. “Backs already against the wall, and now you’re down two key personnel to help you guide you through this.”
“I just I don’t like it,” added Kyle Peterson a while later on ABC. “We can’t hear everything that’s said. The rule says you can’t argue balls and strikes. So if you want to go straight by the rule, then okay, but you never go straight by the rules.”
