Arkansas’ Jaxson Robinson — a 6-foot-6 shooting guard — plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal after one season with the Razorbacks, he tells On3.

“First, I would like to thank God for blessing me with the ability to play the sport that I love. To the University of Arkansas, I want to say thank you. Thank you for embracing me and making me feel like one of your own. My experience here is something I will cherish forever.

“After taking some time to speak with my family and consider what is best for my future, I have decided to enter into the transfer portal,” Robinson said in a statement to On3.

The cutoff date to enter the transfer portal was May 1st. Players are still able to transfer even after the deadline with a waiver. The NCAA rules state if a player doesn’t enter the portal by May 1, they won’t be eligible for the 2022 season, pending a waiver. Keep in mind that this is Robinson’s second time transferring, meaning he’s already taken advantage of the one-time transfer exemption. If his waiver is not approved, he will be forced to sit out a year at his new school, with the year also counting as one of his years of eligibility. However, the expectation is that Robinson will be immediately eligible.

Background info on Robinson

Coming out of high school, Jaxson Robinson was rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals. He was ranked within the top-50 nationally in the class of 2021 before reclassifying to the 2020 class, where 247Sports ranked him 82nd nationally after the move. As a junior at Ada (Okla.) High School, Robinson averaged 15.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game as a junior.

Robinson landed at Texas A&M, choosing the Aggies over Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Auburn, Houston, Texas Tech, and others. During his time in College Station, Robinson played in 14 of A&M’s 18 games, making four starts. He finished the year averaging 2.1 points and 1.1 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game. At the conclusion of the 2020-21 season, Robinson entered the transfer portal after just one year at Texas A&M.

After weighing his options in the transfer portal, Robinson landed at Arkansas. Despite the change of scenery, much of the story remained the same. He averaged 3.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 10.2 minutes of play this past season for the Razorbacks.
