Arkansas head coach John Calipari was in to see Nate Ament, On3’s No. 3 overall prospect in the 2025 class on Wednesday.

Ament, a Five-Star Plus+ prospect, is a 6-foot-9 small forward out of Highland High School in Virginia.

In a recent interview with On3’s Jamie Shaw, Ament discussed the Razorbacks.

“Coach Chin (Coleman) and Coach Cal love coming up to see me. They have a great coaching staff, you know Coach Cal is a renowned coach. So I’m just trying to feel them out still, and make sure I know what’s going on and how I’d fit in the system. You know he’s sent more players to the league than anybody and he’s an NBA coach in college, so that’s very enticing.”

Ament says he plans to visit Arkansas, along with Duke, Kansas State, and Kentucky.

Programs like Tennessee, Louisville, Texas, and Notre Dame have already hosted him on campus.

Ament Scouting Report

“Nate Ament has a basketball player’s frame. While thin, he has good length and excellent positional size. It is that positional size that allows for his versatility on the floor. Ament is comfortable on the ball at each level. In fact, his passing and processing might be his most intriguing attribute on the court. Ament is an excellent passer with both hands, from multiple levels, off a live dribble or set. The jump shot release can get a little long, but he can knock down a three when given time and his size helps get into his shot motion. Ament plays with a good pace, while lacking true blow by speed, he has a good pace and is typically either bigger or more mobile than his defender at this point to help him get to various spots on the floor. Ament is thin with narrow shoulders, he will need to continue adding weight. He is also a quiet by nature person, and a late bloomer. Continue to watch as he develops. He has a unique game that enhances the level of those around him.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw

More on Ament

On3’s Jamie Shaw recently scouting Nate Ament in person and wrote this about the highly-touted prospect.

“Nate Ament is On3’s No. 3 overall player in the class. The 6-foot-9 wing has been in the top 15 recruits for this 2025 class for On3 since the October 2023 update. While then, Ament was an On3 outlier, he is now making his case to be mentioned in the same conversation as the No. 1 overall player. In fact, playing on the same court as Dybantsa tonight, Ament was the best player on the floor. Ament showcased a clam floor game. He proved the defense, was comfortable on the ball, playing in the half-court, and able to get to the spots he wanted. For starters, Ament is a threat from 28-plus feet out. He pulled up multiple times in this one to knock it down. Ament has a quick release on his no-dip shot. While he does not have the explosive burst of others, he has the ability to utilize his dribble to get to his kill spots in the half-court.

“Ament showed multiple pull-ups and floaters in this one. He attacked from the wing and also set up in the mid-post. Ament, despite his thin frame, also rebounded the ball well. This got his team out quickly as his teammates filled the lanes and the 6-foot-9 Ament pushed the break. His thin frame is something that will need to be addressed in the long run. He has narrow shoulders and thin ankles, so how much strength he could put on will be interesting to monitor. Ament is an excellent passer, very unselfish and he is a quick processor with the ball in hand. While he might not have the strength and the athletic pop of others, his feel and basketball IQ complement his size and length very well. Ament is a high-level prospect, one who already has NBA scouts talking.”
