Arkansas QB Malachi Singleton plans to enter transfer portal
Arkansas quarterback Malachi Singleton plans to enter the transfer portal, sources tell On3. The redshirt freshman will have three years of eligibility remaining.
A former four-star recruit, he played a critical role in Arkansas’ upset of Tennessee. Singleton scored the game-winning touchdown on an 11-yard rush to cap a four-play, 59-yard scoring drive against the No. 4 Volunteers.
Singleton finished the year 21 of 28 for 358 yards and a touchdown this season. He also rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown. An Elite 11 finalist in the 2023 cycle, he picked the Razorbacks over UCF and Georgia during his recruitment.
The quarterback’s departure won’t impact who starts in 2025 for Arkansas. Boise State transfer Taylen Green transferred to Fayetteville last offseason, starting 12 games this season for Arkansas. He threw for 2,813 yards and 13 touchdowns, while also rushing for 521 yards and seven touchdowns.

“Great job of throwing the football,” Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman said of Singleton after last month’s loss to Ole Miss. “Throwing it early. Very accurate and ran over some people. Malachi played extremely well. We’re glad we have him and have a lot of belief in him when he goes in the game.”
Malachi Singleton will be one of the top underclassmen quarterbacks available in the portal with multiple years of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-0.5, 220-pound quarterback is from Kennesaw, Georgia, and played high school football at North Cobb. As a junior, Singleton passed for 2,348 yards with 24 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,037 yards and 25 more scores. He finished 2021 with three interceptions.
The transfer portal officially opens on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers. That means roughly 25% of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year.
