Miami (Fla.) Miami Central defensive lineman Armondo Blount is already one of the most talented players in the 2025 class. He earned another impressive accolade on Monday: five-star status in the 2025 On300.

Blount is the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 2 defensive lineman in the On300. He is also the No. 1 player in Florida.

“It’s hard to deny him not being one of the best prospects in the cycle when you see what he’s been able to do, what he’s measured, his growth potential,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said. “He’s a guy, who I think, has continued to grow. He’s around 6-foot-3.5 now, around 250 pounds. He’s got plus length and a big frame. Blount is highly athletic. He ran an electronic 4.78 in the 40-yard dash and I believe he is a state champion in the shot put. He’s a guy who is just twitchy. You see that on the field and he’s a great player on Friday night. I think he’ll continue to be a great player.”

Blount already holds more than 30 offers from some of the top programs in the country. Schools to host him this year include Florida State (March 21), Notre Dame (March 17), Florida (March 11) and Miami (Jan. 21).

According to Power, Blount has the versatility to play all across the defensive line. He currently attends the same high school as another talented defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle: four-star T.A. Cunningham.

“The fact that he is so athletic and powerful at this stage is really encouraging,” Power said. “I think he has some developmental upside. I wouldn’t be stunned if this is a guy who is 290 pounds running a sub 4.6 (40-yard dash) at some point. He is very, very athletic on top of being already a great football player.”

Florida schools are working hard to keep Blount in-state

Florida, Florida State and Miami have all already hosted Blount. Those schools, as well as some others across the country, are currently involved in the five-star’s recruitment.

“Armondo Blount is from Miami Central, so the big three in Florida are going to do all they can to keep him at home,” On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons wrote on March 27. “… It is very early and Blount is wide open, but the early buzz is around Mario Cristobal’s program. It is close to home and he is already getting to know the staff well.”
