The Arterio Morris situation has taken a new twist. After he reportedly chose to attend a community college in Kansas after leaving the Kansas program, he apparently is no longer enrolled.

According to JucoRecruiting.com, Morris is no longer enrolled at Garden City Community College. He was dismissed from Kansas last month in light of a rape charge against him, stemming from an allegation that led to a suspension. Garden City C.C. is located more than 300 miles away from Lawrence.

Morris transferred to Kansas from Texas and was preparing for his first season with the Jayhawks. However, he was suspended following an allegation in September, according to the Kansas City Star, he was suspended shortly thereafter. The incident took place in the dorm that commonly houses the KU basketball team, per an affidavit obtained by the Kansas City Star, when he allegedly raped an 18-year-old victim in a room.

Morris allegedly pulled the victim on to his lap despite her saying she “didn’t want to do anything” repeatedly. The identity of the victim and other witnesses were redacted in the affidavit.

Morris allegedly eventually pinned the victim down by her neck and throat after she tried to get off him. She continued to tell him to stop, per the affidavit, before eventually she “gave up” and waited for Morris to be done.

“Stop. This really hurts,” the victim said, per the affidavit.

She quickly told two witnesses in a nearby room what had happened, per the affidavit. The KC Star reported that a source confirmed this timeline, and said one of the two people the victim shared the story with was a Kansas basketball player who was not involved in the incident. Multiple KU men’s basketball players have been listed as witnesses in the case in various documents.

Per the affidavit, Morris said he “stopped having sex with” the victim before later changing his account to say he didn’t have sex with her at all.

Morris has been charged with a felony in relation to the alleged rape. He was originally suspended from the team. The charge carries a potential prison sentence ranging from just more than 12 years to more than 54 years and up to a $300,000 fine and three years of supervision post-release.

Arterio Morris was a role player for Texas as a freshman last year, averaging 4.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. He arrived in Austin as a highly touted recruit, checking in as a five-star recruit and the No. 19-ranked prospect in the nation from the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
