Ashton Cozart flips commitment to the Oregon Ducks
On3 Consensus four-star wide receiver Ashton Cozart announced Sunday night that he has flipped his commitment from Oklahoma to Oregon.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound precise route runner made an official visit to Oregon over the weekend before announcing his flip on social media. Cozart told On3 why he made the flip to the Ducks.
“I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and always had a love for Oregon,” Cozart told On3 Sunday. And it feels like home. Coach Junior Adams is an amazing receiver coach and could develop me to be a future NFL WR. Coach Lanning and the whole staff is full of amazing young coaches who I can relate to with the newer generation of football. My whole personality just fits the West Coast, and i feel like I’ve made the best decision for myself and my future as a student athlete.”
Cozart initially committed to Oklahoma on February 4, 2022. Cozard is a native of the state of Washington who moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area prior to his sophomore year. He had originally planned to commit to the Sooners the day Lincoln Riley left for USC.

At the time, Cozart picked Oklahoma over TCU and Texas. Prior to the verbal, TCU’s Malcolm Kelly was the best position coach relationship for Cozart.
Oregon initially offered Cozart in March of 2021 when Mario Cristobal was leading the program. The Ducks have been fully engaged since the hire of Dan Lanning. Ducks wide receivers coach Junior Adams has been intrumental in Oregon’s pursuit of the No. 97-ranked prospect in the On300.
Cozart caught 36 passes for 680 yards as a junior for Flower Mound Marcus High. He has a personal record of 10.74 in the 100 meters on the track.
