Ashton Jeanty injury: Heisman-hopeful Boise State RB leaves game vs. Wyoming
Boise State running back and Heisman Trophy candidate Ashton Jeanty left Saturday’s game against Wyoming with what appears to be a left leg injury.
Jeanty suffered the injury while being tackled in the third quarter as his leg looked to bend in an awkward position. He was clearly in pain as he remained down for several moments before limping to the sideline.
Jeanty did not come out with the team on the next offensive drive, though he did remain on the sidelines. Boise State coach Spencer Danielson offered an update on his status ahead of the start of the fourth quarter.
“Ashton Jeanty is banged up, but we’ll find a way to get him back,” he said. “He’s a warrior. First off, thank you Jesus for the opportunity to coach this game. We’ve got a great a great group of kids and this is a tie ball game going into the fourth quarter. We’ve got to find a way to make our plays.”
The game was knotted up at 10 heading into the final 15 minutes of play. Thankfully for the Broncos, Ashton Jeanty did eventually make his way back into the game after the injury and will look to lead them to the win.

He appears to be fine as he would go on to run the ball four times for 53 yards on the next drive, setting up the go-ahead touchdown to put the Broncos up 17-13 with 5:02 remaining. That would ultimately be the score they would win by as Boise State improved to 10-1 on the season.
The running back carried the ball 17 times in the game for a total of 169 yards and one touchdown. With that performance, he passed the 2,000-yard mark for the season, becoming the first player to do so in the past five seasons.
Jeanty entered the contest with 1,893 yards rushing and 26 touchdowns on the season. He had the second-best odds to win the Heisman Trophy entering this week behind Travis Hunter of Colorado.
