Ashton Jeanty injury update: Latest emerges on Boise State RB status
College football fans around the country held their breath when Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty went down with injury Saturday vs. Wyoming. Jeanty remained out for the remainder of the third quarter, and many began to worry whether the injury was serious for the Heisman candidate.
However, with the game tied and his team needing him, he returned in the fourth quarter. He appears to be fine as he would go on to run the ball four times for 53 yards on the next drive, setting up the go-ahead touchdown to put the Broncos up 17-13 with 5:02 remaining.
Jeanty suffered the injury while being tackled in the third quarter as his leg looked to bend in an awkward position. He was clearly in pain as he remained down for several moments before limping to the sideline.
Jeanty did not come out with the team on the next offensive drive, though he did remain on the sidelines. Boise State coach Spencer Danielson hinted that he would come back ahead of the start of the fourth quarter.
“Ashton Jeanty is banged up, but we’ll find a way to get him back,” he said. “He’s a warrior. First off, thank you Jesus for the opportunity to coach this game. We’ve got a great group of kids and this is a tie ball game going into the fourth quarter. We’ve got to find a way to make our plays.”

The running back has carried the ball 17 times in the game so far for a total of 169 yards and one touchdown. With that performance, he passed the 2,000-yard mark for the season.
Jeanty entered the contest with 1,893 yards rushing and 26 touchdowns. He had the second-best odds to win the Heisman Trophy entering this week behind Travis Hunter of Colorado.
Boise State is 9-1 and hoping to hang on and compete in the Mountain West Conference Championship. If it wins that, it is projected to make the 12-team College Football Playoff field.
Having Jeanty will certainly help, and fortunately he appears to be OK after the injury scare.
