The Atlantic Coast Conference teams brought the homerun juice to the 2022 ACC Baseball Tournament this weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina. The tournament isn’t even over yet, and the conference has already launched its 52nd homer of the weekend — breaking the previous record that was set in 2010.

On Thursday, the Virginia Tech Hokies basically had a contest to see who could hit the most deep balls with their 18-6 demolition of Clemson. Virginia Tech bashed six home runs in the blowout win. Gavin Cross, Tanner Schobel, and Nick Biddison all belted back-to-back-to-back home runs in the third inning. It was Virginia Tech’s first set of back-to-back-to-back long balls since 2017. Carson Jones also hit a home run in the third inning — which gave the Hokies their first four-homerun inning since they joined the ACC.

On Friday, Wake Forest belted seven home runs in a 16-3 rout of the Miami Hurricanes. The seven home runs tied an ACC Baseball Tournament record set last year by the Louisville Cardinals. Adam Cecere launched two long balls and it was his third multi-home run performance of the season.

On Saturday evening, N.C. State freshman Tommy White made NCAA history by blasting his 27th long ball of the season. He’s one of the best power hitters in America and he’s got the stats and records to prove it. The Wolfpack standout earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors this year and also reeled in a number of other accolades in his historic rookie season.

It’s been a season of shattering records for White, who recently broke the ACC freshman home run record by blasting his 23rd home run of the season against Wake Forest. That record has stood for 24 years and it was originally set by Florida State’s Chris Diaz in 1998. White also broke the Wolfpack’s single-season home run record earlier this year as well.

N.C. State will face off against the North Carolina Tar Heels — one of the hottest teams in college baseball — on Sunday afternoon for the 2022 ACC Baseball Tournament Championship. That game is set to start at noon at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina.
