Auburn 4-star CB commit Donovan Starr on official visit to Alabama
Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood four-star cornerback Donovan Starr has been committed to Auburn since June 6, but the Tigers are having to work hard to hang onto his pledge.
Starr has continued to give other programs a look, and this weekend he’s in Tuscaloosa on an official visit to Alabama. The blue-chip defensive back confirmed his attendance inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on his Instagram story.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder took an official visit to Illinois last month and is also slated to take an OV to Vanderbilt in November. The likes of Clemson and Missouri were also in the mix for his pledge back in the summer.
“I’m still committed to Auburn,” Starr told Auburn Live earlier this month. “I feel great about Auburn. I feel good about where things are at. I’m just going to take a few other visits before I enroll early.
“I just got the Alabama offer, so I want to go and see what it is like. I’ve never been out there before. And then Vanderbilt, they have been on me heavy for years now. I have been up there a few times. I was there when they beat Alabama. It’s just right up the street.”

Starr is currently a part of a loaded 2025 DB class for head coach Hugh Freeze and Auburn. He’s one of six listed corners or safeties pledged, as of Oct. 26. He’s flanked by the likes of Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson four-star safety Anquon Fegans, Enterprise (Ala.) four-star safety Eric Winters, Baltimore St. Frances Academy four-star CB Blake Woodby and Buford (Ga.) four-star CB Devin Williams.
Alabama’s 2025 class includes a pair of elite corners in Mission Viejo (Calif.) five-star Dijon Lee and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star Chuck McDonald. The Tide have the top-ranked class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, while Auburn checks in at No. 5.
“(Starr) has been in consistent contact with the defensive staff in Tuscaloosa and he is ready to see their plan for him this weekend,” On3’s Chad Simmons wrote earlier this week. “Auburn still has confidence they can keep Starr in this class, but they will have to hold off the Crimson Tide and Commodores.
Starr is the No. 260 overall prospect and No. 29 CB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 7 player in Tennessee.
