Auburn vs. Tennessee’s SEC implications
The four-way race between Auburn, Kentucky, Arkansas and Tennessee will be a little clearer by the end of the Saturday. Auburn currently holds a one-game lead over Kentucky and a two-game lead over the Volunteers and Razorbacks. If Kentucky were to win, doubled with an Auburn loss — the Tigers have the tiebreaker thanks to Aburn’s 80-71 win over the Wildcats in January, which means no matter the outcome, at least for now Auburn will maintain their top spot in the SEC standings heading into the final week of the season.
An Arkansas and Tennessee win would push a three-way tie for second place in the league standings, with Arkansas becoming the automatic two-seed due to their wins over Tennessee and Kentucky (which would come Saturday).
We can mix and match outcome projections and probabilities all day, but one thing is certain — none of these four teams can afford to lose their games on Saturday this close to postseason play.
