Auburn flips 2025 WR Sam Turner from Georgia Tech
Atlanta Southwest Dekalb three-star wide receiver Sam Turner has flipped his commitment from Georgia Tech to Auburn.
Pledged to the Yellow Jackets since June 9, Turner becomes the second receiver target to join the Tigers’ 2025 class.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder is the No. 432 overall prospect and No. 73 wideout in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 50 player in Georgia.
After visiting The Plains in March, Turner returned for Auburn’s massive Big Cat recruiting weekend at the end of July and again for a game at the beginning of the season The Tigers extended an offer in June as receivers coach Marcus Davis continued to make a big impact on his recruitment.
“What stands out about (Davis) is his faith,” Turner told Auburn Live. “He leads on faith. That’s big for me and my family. That’s what he preached today and the culture. Just the tradition and trying to build on that. He said Coach (Hugh) Freeze has produced a lot of receivers like Van Jefferson and DK Metcalf and Laquon Treadwell, Elijah Moore. It’s a place of development for receivers and I believe that.”

Freeze and the Tigers flip another prospect this cycle
It’s been ‘Flipmas’ on The Plains all summer and fall long. Turner is the latest recruit to flip his commitment from elsewhere to Auburn, joining some of the top names in the class.
Back in June, Elba (Ala.) four-star running back Alvin Henderson joined the class after originally committing to Penn State. The end of July saw former Ohio State pledge and four-star cornerback Blake Woodby out of Baltimore St. Frances Academy join the class, as well as former Alabama commits in Saraland (Ala.) four-star defensive lineman Antonio Coleman and Selma (Ala.) Southside four-star athlete Derick Smith.
Toward the end of August, Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick four-star defensive lineman Nate Marshall made a surprise flip to Auburn from Michigan. In September, Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez flipped from Miami. The biggest flip of them all finally came earlier this month as Lucedale (Miss.) George County four-star quarterback Deuce Knight made the switch from Notre Dame to the Tigers.
Turner becomes commitment No. 27 for Hugh Freeze and his staff this cycle. The class ranks No. 4 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Over half of the pledges in the mix are top-200 overall prospects.
