The Lucedale (Miss.) George County four-star quarterback Deuce Knight saga continues, as the Notre Dame commit is back at Auburn this weekend, this time for an official visit.

This marks the fourth time that Knight has been at Jordan-Hare Stadium this season to see the Tigers, who are taking on Oklahoma Saturday afternoon.

Knight is one of four official visitors for head coach Hugh Freeze and Co. this weekend, alongside a trio of in-state commits in four-star safety Anquon Fegans, four-star edge Jared Smith and four-star running back Alvin Henderson.

Despite Auburn’s 2-2 start to the 2024 season, the Tigers are still trending to flip the elite signal-caller from Notre Dame, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Knight has been committed to the Fighting Irish since Sept. 18, 2023.

Ahead of Knight’s latest trip to The Plains, On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong touched on the status of Knight’s recruitment. While Auburn remains the trending pick, the window to close the deal on flipping his pledge could be closing soon.

“Knight will be flanked by his family. Auburn has had a lot of momentum in this recruitment since the end of summer, but if something doesn’t pop soon, it wouldn’t be surprising to see things pick up with other targets at the position,” Wiltfong wrote.

Auburn has targeted multiple senior QBs this cycle but is yet to land one in its 2025 class. The Tigers have rode some serious recruiting momentum into the fall and now have the No. 5 class in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Knight continues to headline Notre Dame’s class, which ranks No. 12 overall.

Knight is the No. 36 overall prospect and No. 7 QB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 player in Mississippi.

Deuce Knight Scouting Summary

On3 writes this of Knight as a prospect:

“Knight is a big left-handed signal caller who is the top athlete at the position early on in the 2025 cycle. Measured in at around 6-foot-4.5, 195 pounds with a 9.5-inch hand prior to his junior season. Registers as a truly elite athlete at the position via his offseason testing and track and field background finishing his sophomore track and field season as one of the top high jumpers in Mississippi. Transfers that athleticism over to the field on Friday nights. Easily eliminates the angles of pursuit defenders as a scrambler and on designed runs. Tough to bring down in the backfield with his size and reactive quickness. Touts a strong downfield arm. Has made progress as a passer from his sophomore to junior seasons. Still developing, but has the upside to continue improving with continued in-game reps.”
